Video and audio uploads not converting

I have uploaded both video and audio files a number of times, but they are not converting...
What else, if anything, do I need to setup? Or is this an error?
The one on the image was posted yesterday.

Your System Check Tool (in ACP=> System Core=> Tools) shows a load of server related errors. You need you contact your hosting provider to check them sorted.
Make sure your server conforms to these requirements - https://www.jamroom.net/the-jamroom-network/documentation/getting-started/774/server-requirements

I contacted my hosting company (heartinternet.uk) about this problem, who replied - "Currently managing the website is out of our scope of support and should be looked into by your developer".

You are not asking them to manage your website. You are asking if their server can comply with these minimum specifications, which are a pretty standard configurations.
With all the System Tool failures it looks as though they are not allowing you to run binary files.

Yes, I explained that to them, but got that answer.

The hosting support have asked “Can you please confirm what software your developers are trying to run on this site?“
Is it simply called Jamroom Open Source, or is there a more technical name for it?
Thank you.

You'll want to ask your hosting if you can run binary files on your server and if so what directory they need to go in.

Then you can modify your data/config/config.php file and add in the paths to the binary files needed to convert audio and video files.

Hope this helps!

Heart Internet customer support say... " If the package needs to be able to run binary files then I'm afraid this won't be possible on a shared web hosting server at this time. We restrict this for security reasons."

They offer a VPS for £11.99 a mouth, and I've asked it I could migrate my account to one. I'm waiting for their reply.

Will Jamroom run on a server with CentOS 7?

The underlying linux system does not matter so much, as long as it meets the server requirements:

Docs: "Server Requirements"
https://www.jamroom.net/the-jamroom-network/documentation/getting-started/774/server-requirements

so it could run on a correctly set up Cent OS7

--edit--
Whats going to be of more of a concern for you is will they help you setup the VPS. Because a lot of the time the cheaper VPS servers are 'unmanaged' which means as long as the server is online then their job is done, its up to you to take care of running the server. The more expensive version is a 'managed VPS' where if something goes wrong you can ask them to fix it.

Jamroom hosting is managed hosting: https://www.jamroom.net/hosting

OK, yes they leave the user to setup and manager their our VPS, but provide a Plesk control panel (or cPanel at £10 extra), which works out at GBP 17.99+20% VAT per month for the Plesk based VPS. Their managed servers work out more expensive than Jamroom. I’ll look into the Plesk panel in more detail before I decide what to do.

Thank you for your help and advice, which is always appreciated. 👍

We had someone using Plesk walk away grumpy a couple of weeks ago:

Forum: "Lucid Skin Error gets my server blocked on Chrome and Safari"
https://www.jamroom.net/the-jamroom-network/forum/installation-and-configuration/63071/lucid-skin-error-gets-my-server-blocked-on-chrome-and-safari

Something in that system adds security stuff that wont allow one part of jamroom to function. Should be ok as long as you understand that its possible that the
ACP -> SKINS -> STYLE

editor may not function under plesk. The work-around is to do all your customization in the file system and upload.

I decided in the end not to rent the VPS.
When I used Jamroom previously I didn’t have any problems with the video and audio converters. Maybe if I reinstall the software it would resolve the problems, and maybe not use a sub-directly? Could I move all the files to the public_html folder, or would this create major problems?

If I used your hosting, would my current Jamroom website be automatically transferred to your server? Or would it need a fresh install?

Did you use Jamroom before with this host? If so, and it worked, you might have been on a different plan, or they have changed the server specs.

The problem is that your host will not allow you to run binary files on your server, so moving folders or re-installing will not change things.

Your site could be transferred to our hosting, we have a tool to do that. You install a 'transfer' module onto your existing site then run the tool from your Jamroom Hosting control panel. The site is then transferred.

Yes, it is the same host as I used previously.
What I’ll try next is uploading a Jamroom test site to my existing host. But before I do that please could you remove the dead site (ringed in red) from my account, as that suggests that I am currently using two Jamroom licences, when in fact I am only using one, having surrendered one of them last year. Just the clarify, the site “regal-network.com/france“ is the one not used.

Thank you.

Go ahead and create a test site. If you click on the View Licences for the '/france' site there are no licences used. I just need to work out why its still showing.

Unfortunately, even when installed directly into public_html (not a sub-directory) the same problems occur.

Can I run my other non-jamroom sites on your Jamroom server as well as Jamroom?

You can but remember that we would not be able to support them in any way, or make any changes to the server to accommodate them, including creating any new databases they might need. You would also need to copy/upload them yourself.

'NO' to wordpress. It's too buggy and will get your server hacked. Wordpress is not allowed on jamroom hosting.

I've moved my hosting for Jamroom to Arvixe.com, which has a install script for Jamroom, so I've set up a new site, and most things seem to be working except...

tifig - "models/jrSystemTools/tools/tifig"
Memory Cache - "functions are missing"

And I need to contact the hosting support at Arvixe to change the Apache PROC limits, as seem to be limited.

Arvixe was a HUGE problem for me a few years ago. They even kept taking payments from my CC for months after I asked them to close my account. (They done away with the User being able to close their own account and delete CC details).

If you do have problems with Arvixe hosting, give me a shout. I can give you hosting on one of my servers that already host Jamroom sites for my clients.

Better still, if you're not that experienced with the platform it's best to get a basic Server from the Jamroom Network. That way, all the support you'll ever need is included in the price.

I have used Arvixe previously (a couple of years ago) but I didn't have any problems. Thank you for your offer though.
