Upgrading an ancient Jamrooom

Hi guys,
I've been meaning to bring back my old jamroom site, but the last time we took it offline, it was at version 2.44.

Is there a way to download all the older versions from 2.44 onwards? I don't think I can just upgrade to the latest version directly from 2.44 correct?

please advice.

Hi Razif - Welcome back.
We have tools to import old Jamroom4 site to the latest Jamroom6 but not to import older versions.
You can get Jamroom4 from our archive site at http://archive.jamroom.net/ but to be honest, I can't remember if its possible to upgrade a Jamroom2 site to Jamroom4 even as I think there were major database/structural changes between versions.

Hi Paul. Thanks for the link! I'll just give it a try and see how it goes. I'm trying to locate my old hard drives too. I pretty sure I've downloaded every jamroom updates. Just never got around to actually do it... and suddenly.. it has been many many years LOL.

another possible issue you might run into is PHP versions. I don't know what Jamroom2 required by Jamroom4 could only run on php 5.2 but JR5 needs 5.6+.

So likely you'd need either 2 servers to run the old site and the new.

ah okay. noted Michael.

I think I found the files and instructions to upgrade on the Jamroom archive site. Paul mentioned that there's a tool to upgrade from JR4 to JR6. So this means that I need to do JR2 to JR3, then JR3 to JR4, and finally JR4 to JR6.

I can do this on localhost right? or do I need to do it live?

localhost is fine. All you're looking to do is get the data into a format that works with the current version.

I don't think I have even seen what JR2's sql data looked like. If you want to send the SQL file to support at jamroom dot net I can take a look at the structure you have to see if there are any shortcuts.

Sorry Michael, didn't notice the reply.. the SQL file is around 400MB. I'll send the link to support.

I brought the old site back online but I think I'm just going to make it as an archive site. Even the youngest users last time, are now daddies and uncles LOL. Around 80-90% of the bands there are no longer active and some by now have gone mainstream.

perhaps I'll just build another one with the latest Jamroom and start everything back from scratch. Maybe this is a less painful way to go? But it's nice to have at least some content to start with for the new site.

I'm downloading the SQL file now to see if there's anything salvageable in it.

The jamroom_band_info table has very clean data that looks very importable into JR6.

The chart history looks like the largest table, its about 300MB of the 400MB total.

The jamroom_user table also looks like it has good clean information.

Paul is the one who knows the most about imports, I'll show these to him. Would you want to import the users and profiles?

LOL i think that time we also made it with dial-up in mind

if it's possible to have the users and profiles from JR2.4 to JR6, I think it would be great! as opposed to having to build the user base back from scratch.

But if it's too much trouble, then it's okayyy. I'm mentally ready to rebuild! :D

Hi Razif - Michael has sent me the user and band CSV files from your JR2 database and I think I can use them to import your Users and Bands into a JR6 site.
However, it would take a few hours of my time so would need to charge for this service.
If this is acceptable, let me know and I'll investigate further and give you a quotation for the work.
