Persistent login not working

I am getting some strange behavior with login. Not just with my site but also on Jamroom.net.

Even if you were previously logged in, if you open site in new window or tab, you appear to be logged out. When you click on the login link, you are instantly logged in. You are not asked for credentials again.

It may seem trivial but its a nuisance; especially if your content depends on users being logged in. I have confirmed this issue with others as well.

I see this occasionally. Its to do ssl.
All of the Jamroom site is https so if you are logged in then open a new http://jamroom.net page, you are not seen as logged in until you click on a link whereupon it goes to an https page and all is well.
Its been happening quite a while so not sure if its fixable. I'll mention it to Brian.

make sure you are on the same path for both locations.

http://jamroom.net and
https://jamroom.net

are separate locations. If I'm logged in and it looks like im logged out, then I make sure im on the https version.
