when i do unfollow a user still looking following

Yes, we had similar problem when testing "unfollow a profile", even after that, profile still shows user as following.

How to stop following, or rather "unfollow" a profile? What is best / correct method to unfollow a profile?

Not seeing any issues here.
What skin are you using?
It might just be a browser caching thing?

Am seeing this happen now. Its a bug in the Follower module. It isn't clearing caches after an unfollow.
It'll be fixed in the next release of the module.

Get the latest Follower module from the Marketplace. This bug has been fixed in it.
