The orange colour of the forum thread buttons (which shows that there are unread posts) doesn't work, using FF.

Today only the last post (at the bottom) showed white, the rest were all orange, yet there were no new posts.

The button turns white after visiting the thread though.

Thanks Steve - I just pushed out an updated version of the forum that should have that all fixed up (it was always flaky). New changes include:

- BBCode is now supported
- viewed/unviewed should work much better as it's not stored in a cookie now but in the DB
- new "quote post" button - just hover over a post and you'll see the quote icon - clicking on it jumps you right to the response text entry with the quoted text already ready to go.
- other small tweaks and updates.

Yes, I can see my post appear in Chrome (not logged in), but FF (logged in) I'm stuck with the indicator image next to the post response button - I need to refresh to see my post

Yeah - it's not the way I wanted it to work though, but at least it works for now. It's running kind of slow here - i"m going to need to do some performance profiling on the forum to see if I can speed up long topics like this one.

Difficult to tell how things run from here - always have a huge slowdown in the evenings (I'm currently staying with my mum and she chose a notorious low budget isp, against all advice).

FF profiler suggests that the wordcloud is taking up 74% (of something) - how does it run without that on the page?

Yeah the tag cloud is slow - I can try disabling it to see if that is causing the page slow down.

yeah - that is a significant speed up. Going to leave that disabled for now and look into a PHP/GD created tag cloud instead of Javascript.

I've got some stuff that I did months back (probably last year) which used canvas. Not sure how it was performance wise, but it sure was the prettiest cloud whilst drawing itself. It saved to an image.

I'll have to dig that one out.

no need to work on Tag cloud for now - we'll come up with something, but it's not high priority right now.

I'd also not setup a demo page either - let's take a break from adding anything else to the site right now until we decide how we really want to set up - I don't want to end up just trying to replicate all the sections on the current Jamroom.net over here, as I've not been that happy with the setup anyway.

One thing I think could be improved is the initial documentation page - right now it just dumps you into a large list of document links (or seems to). The main documentation link should be a page where there are very clear boxes/sections for things like:

Getting Started
Running Jamroom
Developer Guides
Module Documentaion
API Documentation


etc..

I think we already have these categories setup, we just need to have the initial documentation page lay those out instead of showing any docs. I can create some icons as well for the categories, which would make it nice.

Let me know what you think (we should probably start a new thread).

I got a bunch of mails all pointing me to this location, how difficult would it be to just get 1 until i visit it, then another after that. like phpbb does with its

Also - the recent emails should have a #last hash, which jumps you to the bottom.

What I tried to say was:

smileys were originally from school, but got subverted by the second summer of love, so to me an emoticon is just love, sex and dancing (I wish)

Ahh most like it is my messed up code block formatting - I'm trying to make it so multiple code blocks can be present in the same post, and they all get setup right. Not working so well right now.

I haven't made any progress with looking at the tag cloud mentioned above, sorry about that.

More laptop woes hit me at the weekend. Looks like the ssd and/or logic board need to be replaced. I should know more later in the week once apple have the parts.

snappy. What was the issue with the tag cloud? does turning it off change the page load speeds for anyone? no difference felt here.
