During import from Ning to JR, what happens to attached documents (e.g. pdf files)?

researchcooperative:My impression is that many photos and attachments associated with content in my former Ning site were held inside the Ning hosting system, and were not or could not be transferred with the .json files.

This has resulted in many broken image files where images were embedded in text, and broken download links to pdf files that are no longer present.

The reason this is happening is that the links INSIDE your items still point to your NING site. You need to run the "Update Base URL" Tool from the ACP -> Ning Import Tools section.

researchcooperative:Or has everything actually been transferred, and I am just not seeing these materials?

Jamroom cannot transfer items that were NOT on your NING system (of course).

researchcooperative:One-by-one operation is easy enough, in itself, in the case of the imported Ning notes (Memos) as the memos are displayed as a long list within a single profile, and can be browsed there to find titles, which can then be entered into the "Change Item Owner" search field. But this is slow for a general review of the positioning of all the old content.

This is a "one time cost" operation - we try not to spend a lot of time creating functionality that is use one time unless it is core to how Jamroom works. In this case the Change Owner module is what you want - Batch Edit does not work since it does not let you change the _profile_id of the item.

Jamroom 5 --> 6 upgrade

We're making really good progress and Jamroom 6 NON BETA is scheduled to be released on November 28th.

I'm not clear on what you're asking here but I THINK you are asking if you will have to change your skin? The only real CHANGE between Jamroom 5 and Jamroom 5 in regards to templates is TIMELINE templates. If you have customized your jrAction templates, you'll need to work on them post-upgrade and bring in the new changes from Jamroom 6.

Bandwerkstatt:Must we adapt in general our design in Jamroom 6?

Your custom skin should work no problem on Jamroom 6 - you'll just need to make sure any custom Timeline templates are updated.

I've got some updates in for the next JR6 beta (tomorrow) that should get things working smoother in pending items. It also includes a "cleanup" for bad pending items (which is what you are seeing) if you check the "Repair Modules" option in the Integrity Check.

This is not out NOW but coming in tomorrow's beta release.

Birthday Module

mountaintop:One thing I noticed when I want to edit the profile FRC All Music Network Radio there is no field showing or change the Birthday of FRC All Music Network Radio.

Correct - birthdays are part of the user information - NOT the profile.

mountaintop:However the site has profiles which have only one user.

This should not be an issue for these profiles.

If you think it is going to be confusing for your users then I would recommend NOT using the Birthday module (turn it off) OR uncheck the "Add To Timeline" option.

Strumelia:I think the issue is that if you get a notif. of a pending ITEM (like an event), and you click on the email link, yes it takes you to the pending area /core/dashboard/pending ...but the default TAB of Users is what is presented, even when there are NO pending users...and the Items Tab is not showing at all....giving the impression that nothing is pending.

I don't think this is the case in JR6 - I believe you are still on JR5. There was some work done in the pending section for JR6.

That's not a glitch - that's the way it works. If a user is linked to a profile, and has a birthday, and the "Add To Timeline" option is checked, it will show in the Timeline for the profiles the user is linked to.
