Is it possible to automatically display all profiles in a gallery?

Using Jamroom

Strumelia:
My ning site members are always searching for other nearby members to contact and get together with to play music or find teachers etc. I think that if one is doing a search on the site's /profile page, it would be great to at least include Location in the search by default (country, city, state).

Location is not a standard Jamroom profile field, but you should just be able to add those custom fields you created into the Search -> Global Config.

search for member by IP address?, Member .csv file?

Using Jamroom

I just added in a DataStore CSV export for the next core release - so that should help you out.

Thanks!

Ok, so I guess I'll try it and see what happens. Nothing should blow up, right? lol Thanks!

Ok so it works nicely! :)
Now when signed in as a regular member, I go to the site /profile page and "Forums" member is not showing. It does show if I am signed in as admin, as it's supposed to. It also still shows up (as expected) if one does a search for the name "Forums".
Thanks, this is cool! It was a bit annoying to see the "Forums" profile showing up in the member list, like they were another regular human member.

Right on - that's what it was made for, so glad to see it's working for you.

Thanks!

Merchandise Store

Strumelia:
I think he means combine virtualgoods/services with physical merchandise. Like you did with Combined video and combined audio modules.

I don't know if we would do this. To be honest, audio and video are big part of A LOT of Jamroom sites. The merchandise store not so much - in fact out of the 70+ modules that we sell it is second to the bottom in sales, so that tells us it's just not something most Jamroom sites care about (which I know is unfortunate for those that DO want to use it) so it is not going to get as much attention or priority work as other higher profile modules.

So in this case you would just use Seamless and customize it to suit your needs.

[Bug?] Profile excludes

Using Jamroom

The profile will still be usable just like normal. This module will exclude the the profile's items from showing up in jrCore_list calls for skin templates. So let's say on the front page of your site there is a list for "top profiles". The profile would not show there. It would also not show in the profile index list at yoursite.com/profile. Basically lists are "lists" that are on skin templates (i.e. NOT profile pages).

search for member by IP address?, Member .csv file?

Using Jamroom

Strumelia:
When I look at "who's online" I can see people or entities listed by their IP addresses, and it shows what area of my site they are looking at even if they are not logged in.

How can I search my member list by IP address so I can match up IP to member, and see if that 'mystery' IP identity is actually one of my members trying to log in or reset their password for example?
I'm hoping that I can browse my members' IP addresses, as we can in Ning.

You can't really - Jamroom does not "store" the IP Address for a user account. You can see it in who's online because Jamroom's session support provides, but as soon as a session expires (15 minutes) you're not going to have it. You can't pinpoint a user to a specific IP for the most part anyway as with DHCP the last 1 or 2 octets will change frequently.

Again, being able to download a .csv of member data to my computer in a format that opens neatly in Excel would be incredibly valuable. I use it all the time for my current ning site. I was able to sort by name, by hometown, by birthday, etc....all that enabled me to pinpoint and remove duplicate members (even if they had singed up with two different user names) and thus clean up my membership roster in preparation for migrating to Jamroom. I'll really hate losing that once I'm off Ning.

I don't think you will "lose it" - it's just not something we have created yet. I believe we have a ticket open for it, but being short handed these last few weeks AND having higher priority work that we are currently working on, I can only say it is "coming soon".

Thanks!

Is it possible to automatically display all profiles in a gallery?

Using Jamroom

OK, here's a specific question.

I have a testuser, regular member, who can log in and use the gear icon (settings) to fill out a profile form I created using form design tool.

http://publishsciencenet.jamroomhosting.com/profile/settings/profile_id=5/id=5

The fields to fill in are location, work interests, contact details, and so on. Near the bottom there is a "Profile Privacy" field, and that is set to Global - visible to everyone.

He changes some details, leaving the setting as visible, saves the page, and... vroom! It vanishes.

Now we are back on the original public page, and nothing shows there.

http://publishsciencenet.jamroomhosting.com/testuser-one

Is this how it is meant to work?

No - I don't think that is how it is supposed to work - when you say "vanishes" do you mean you just get a blank page? If so, check the PHP Error log - that usually indicates a corrupt or invalid template edit.

Or do you mean the changes aren't saved? Do you get an error?

Thanks!

Would it be possible to combine products and bundles in a similar fashion as you's have done with media?

I'm not sure I know what you mean - can you clarify?

Thanks!

gary.moncrieff:
Your right it doesn't show to non admins on the profiles page, however it does still show if you search for community.

This is the correct behavior at this time. The idea with the module is to keep a specific profile's items (songs, videos, etc.) out of LISTS. If someone specifically searches for the profile however it will show.
