Birthday Notifications

Suggestions

I'd love to see a widget/module for birthday wishes as well!

However, I wouldn't want it to be dependent on old Ning data. This week I'm actually deleting 2000 old inactive Ning members. And as I leave Ning further behind in the past, on my new JR site i don't require date of birth anymore (some joining members bristled at that). I had required it on Ning only because spammers were a much bigger problem on my ning than in my JR site. (all the spammers were apparently young urban women in their 20s...lol)

I'd love to see a Birthday Club where members could choose to enter in their OWN birthdays (no years) if they WANT to be part of it- and their avatar would pop up on the main page in the widget on their birthday. Then other members could click to the birthday members' pages and wish them happy birthday on their comment wall. There should however be one auto-generated birthday wish (a comment, or a notification message) for them somehow though- 'cause it'd be reeeeally sad if some members got no happy birthday message at all on their big day... :(

question about "Last Login" date

Using Jamroom

How would the site know if the person had really actually visited the site today, if they can stay logged in until "user rests cookies" (as I have mine set).

It's not hugely important, but I was just wondering if the large number of people showing last log in of today represented actual human site activity or was partially simply "stay logged in" people who may not have been actually on the site in weeks.

question about "Last Login" date

Ok, so then if I understand this correctly- If you have the site set to not bump logged in users off for say three weeks...during that time will the "keep me logged in" users all keep showing a Last Logged In date of the current day...even if they don't actually browse to or visit the site?

question about "Last Login" date

Using Jamroom

This is a simple question I'm just wondering about-
In my User Accounts Browser, there's a column showing the date of "Last Login" for each member.

If there are a bunch of members showing today as the Last Login...does that include all the people who just stay logged in all the time? OR, does it actually mean that that person actively logged in today? In other words, does Last login include the "still logged in" people in its list of today's logins? Thanks

Alas, I cannot play it very well- not enough days in the week to play all the instruments I long to play!

Ceri, did you do this in User Accounts Module? See my screenshot. And did you "Save" changes at bottom of page, and then clear cache when all done?

Problem in deleting many users/profiles at once..

Using Jamroom

I need to delete about 2000 long inactive members from my site, but I'm encountering a dilemma.
These are members who have never logged into my new Jamroom site since it went live from Ning 6 months ago...despite four reminders sent out to them over time, so obviously they have lost interest and I want to shed them and their content.

The General problem:
I cannot see any way to delete them that is not a very tedious procedure requiring multiple clicks per member- with 2000 that's going to take many hours of work. (ugh)

The additional SPECIFIC problem:
The only place where I can SEE these never-logged-in-yet members lined up neatly for me to start deleting is by sorting the "Last Login" column in the User Accounts data Browser. No problem so far there, as there's a DELETE button next to each User. BUT- if i click the delete button in the USER browser, I get: "Are you sure you want to delete this User account?-The associated User Profile will NOT be deleted." Junk left behind?- certainly don't want that.

Ok, so it seems I should be deleting the member from my User PROFILES Browser instead. If I go to my Profiles Browser instead, when clicking Delete next to a member I get: "Are you sure you want to delete this Profile?-Any User Accounts associated ONLY with this Profile will also be deleted." So...that seems like a better option...BUT!- in the User PROFILES Browser I do not get the "Last Login" column, so I can't sort all my members in order to delete only those who have never yet logged into my Jamroom site. ARGH!!! This means that if deleting these members from the Profiles Browser, I'd have to: copy name from Userbrowser/paste name intoProfilebrowser/search/clickdelete/ clickconfirm/clickback to profilebrowser/clickback to Userbrowser window/click next name... for every. single. one. of those 2000 members in order to cleanly delete both their user account and their profile account and content...right?

There must be a better way to get this job done without many hours and 8,000 or more clicks? Otherwise my sanity will be at stake...
Suggestions?

I do have the BatchItemEditor module, but last time i touched it I screwed up bigtime and completely deleted a whole Group from my site. lol
