Some users Notification settings being reset to all OFF...?

Using Jamroom

No, none of them were due to kickbox. As I said, this happened in MY OWN settings, and in 4 of my profile-admin moderators as well... in other words 4 out of 7 of us moderators admins. They affirmed that they did not do this themselves. The other 3 moderators were not effected. Some various other members seem to have been reset to all OFF as well. Hard to tell how widespread it is, but the moderator group thing of 4 out of 7 was alarming.

(As to your other question- yes that system works well with the "invalid email" quota I created. I deal with those members periodically...mostly by deleting them if they have not been active in over 2 years.)

Then there's the weird issue of random group members in all groups becoming named simply "@" in the group members grid, but though the two issues seem to have occurred around the same time (3 or 4 days ago?) I'm not sure if they're related. I think Deb has a ticket open on it.
But this 'Notifications to Off' issue in what I'm addressing in this thread. Thanks!

Some users Notification settings being reset to all OFF...?

Using Jamroom

I discovered that about two to three days ago, the Notification settings for some of my members got mysteriously all reset to OFF- to receive NO notifications....unbeknownst to them.
This happened in MY OWN settings, and in 4 of my profile-admin moderators as well... in other words 4 out of 7 of us moderators admins. They affirmed that they did not do this themselves. The other 3 moderators were not effected.
We began noticing we weren't net getting any notifications two days ago, but thought at first we each thought it was just a lull. Finally realized last night what had happened.

I then looked into the settings of about 40 of our most active helpful friendly members, and found about one in every 8 or 10 who surely had their settings re-set to all OFF..those people are not the type to want this- they are obsessively connected and active on the site.

I have not announced anything to my members yet, on the off chance that it can all be set back to how it was before with them non the wiser.

But if it has happened to 1 in 8 members, or even to one in a dozen, that's a significant problem and will effect overall site activity, not to mention royally pissing off members who will suddenly stop getting private notes and comment/discussion updates on stuff that's important to them.

One odd clue I did notice is that this does NOT seem to have happened to any of my members who have not yet logged in on the new site since I migrated from ning. Not sure if that factoid helps.

I'm really more hoping that the reason for this can be known so it won't happen again and/or become more widespread.

Groups - Change ownership? change/add administrators?

Ning To Jamroom

Yep that's the exact same issue I am seeing in my groups as well.

Thanks Charles, but this has just happened and is way too many instances to be a sudden extra space getting created. Something's up.
I also just found out that some members have had ALL their notifications turned to OFF (including me and two other moderators)...so I'm currently looking into that as well to see how widespread it might be. I may start a separate thread on it if I find it widespread...it will effect my site badly if so.

Ning To Jamroom

Give them a link to this thread as well so they can see what I posted about the member IDs.
Thanks!

Not seeing these @ members in my profile page for the site...only in the group member pages. I've done integ check and cleared cache on JR and in my browser.

here's what I get when i try to delete these members named "@" from a group...

Uh oh.
I'm suddenly seeing something odd going on with group members, and I think it may be related to the message you are seeing with the double quote and the character "@" being used all by itself apparently as a profile/user name.

Here's what I'm seeing that's new on my site-

In most or all my groups, when I click to "view All" group members, I'm now seeing occasional members with the default avatar and their profile name is merely: @
See screenshot 1.

When I click to that member's name or hover over their avatar, I get only a link to my site's home page.
If I click in the group grid to their "user config" page, I get screenshot 2.

If I then click to delete that member "@" from the group, I get the message "invalid user_id - please try again".

Something's going on and I'm not sure if these phantom members are being created from nothing and added to the group (that doesn't seem likely) or if they were/are actual members that have been stripped of their IDs somehow.

Thanks Michael for this insight.
Should i wait for the next core update, or should I add the code?
I'd need to know exactly where to add this code though.
