Change a member's location for them?

Using Jamroom

Ah, Paul- I see that on members who have joined since I moved to Jamroom. But my imported Ning members do not have that 'location' field at all in their Account tab- for instance my longtime member John Keane in my screenshot above.
I seem to recall we did some fussing before I went live so that the ning members' locations would show up in the sidebar. How can I now change their (or my own for that matter) location in the sidebar, for my imported Ning members since their profile has no 'location' field?

Change a member's location for them?

Using Jamroom

How do I change a member's location for them, in their profile page Sidebar? I'm not seeing and am assuming they are not able to change this profile info for themselves.

If it matters, I have two kinds of situations-
1 where the members and their locations have been imported from Ning, and
2 when they are new members who joined after my ning import, and they had punched in their location in their membership application fields.
Attached is a screenshot showing what I need to change for them when they request a location change.

redundant notifications in Groups

Using Jamroom

I own about 50 groups, but do not get discussion notifications on all those (nor would I want to!)

Lorna, in your last sentence, when you say you get 2 notifications- is one concerning a new 'comment' and the other about an updated 'discussion'...but both are about the same thing that was posted? (see my above screenshots)

"are you the owner of the group, or is the discussion one that you have started"

...both.

embedded Vimeo vids crashing new Firefox on windows...anyone else?

Off Topic

That's so funny...FF has been slow and crashing left and right on my for tears but I loyally stuck by it. Even recently, Vimeo would crash and close FF every time for weeks. FF finally fixed it, but meanwhile Chrome and Safari had no probs at all with vimeo...it was the last straw for me really...packed my backed and left FF for good...lolol.

Went to Chrome 2 weeks ago and was surprised to find it super fast and it's not crashing on me like friedfox used to several times a day sometimes. (!) Plus, I love how it's now synching between my PC, my macbook, my ipad, and my android phone...without my fussing at the synching all the time.
To each their own, I guess I'm now a Chromehead, for a while anyway! :D

MediaUrlScanner vs. Tinymce Link adder battle?

Using Jamroom

I appreciate it, since I've done it myself a couple times now, and also I've seen members do it twice now already as well. I'll need to somehow prevent this from continuing to happen, especially since people naturally tend to click on the first link first, which unceremoniously sends them to Nowheresville.

MediaUrlScanner vs. Tinymce Link adder battle?

Using Jamroom

I'm saying I paste the link into the top field, and then if I paste the same link into the second field (for what text to show), then it creates a second live link, with a play button, that does not function.
Yes we 'can' type text into that field, but many folks simply paste the url in again, to just show the url's text. They are using it to post live links for non-media pages as well, of course.
It's not just for my benefit, but I see some of my members are now doing this inadvertently as well. Many of us simply want the link to show where the 'text to show' shows...like say fotmd.com for example, and we don;t create new text to show what text to show- we just paste the same url in since it's already on our clipboard. And you 'have to' paste something into that field- cannot leave it blank.
So now, with the latest url scanner active, if one uses the tinymce 'insert link' button, if someone pastes a youtube url into BOTH fields, you get the double links and double play buttons, the first of which does not work.

MediaUrlScanner vs. Tinymce Link adder battle?

Using Jamroom

I obviously want to keep the tinymce link adder there, for adding links that are NOT media-related, and editing their shown text.
And one cannot add a link via tinymce without filling out BOTH of those fields I show in my screenshot...filling out only the top url field results in no link at all.

What to do?

....But now wityh the latest urlscanner update, when one does that it now produces TWO live links, and clicking on the first one takes you back to the begionning of a discussion...to nowhere. Clicking the second link properly opens the media and plays it.
