MediaUrlScanner vs. Tinymce Link adder battle?

Using Jamroom

I'm noticing an issue now with embedded links to media...this started after the latest update feature to (I believe) MediaUrlScanner module that enabled this great new feature:
--------------
Checked: The player will display instead of the link.
Unchecked: A link with the title will display, when clicked the player will reveal.
Default: off
-------------

I love the result! It works great by simply pasting an url directly into a forum post or wherever. Love it.
However now there is a little problem whenever someone uses the "add Link" button in the Tinymce editor.
Normally, I've been adding the same pasted url in both places as shown in this screenshot:

making it easier to private message

Ning To Jamroom

Since Ning does not allow the archiving and export of private messages OR member passwords (for obvious privacy reasons), unless you stay on Ning forever there is no way in the world for a ning network owner to transfer members' private messages from Ning to any other platform. Scott, have you deleted your Ning site already?

embedded Vimeo vids crashing new Firefox on windows...anyone else?

Off Topic

It seems like Firefox has now fixed this issue with Vimeo crashing it. I'm glad for everyone who was pulling their hair out on this, my members included!
For myself, I have now moved on to Chrome so I didn't even notice that it got fixed...lolol I went back into FF to check it today, and noticed they fixed the Vimeo issue...and also noticed yet again how sloooooow Firefox loads pages. Good riddance I say to FF after many years.

But just reporting back here to get closure on this thread. :)

Newsletter refined function? or PMs to multiple selected members?

Using Jamroom

As above, I'd like to request this:
Even BETTER would be to give the Private notes module a quota-controlled option to select/send to multiple users- so that we could choose having ONLY ADMINS have that feature, and still prevent members from sending out PMs to more than one member at a time if we like (and set like that by default).

I don't mean admins being able to send out a private message to a whole quota. I mean that the admin can enable a quota (such as moderators) to be able to hand select multiple users to send a private note to in one shot....while still being able to NOT let perhaps the general Members quota to do that (to prevent spamming). This would be pretty neat.

Sorry, but it's still happening Michael.

Just got one that starts with:

how does a member email a photo to their photo section?

Using Jamroom

He is in fact add his photos to his profile galleries the usual way. He just 'wants' the other way as well. So I'm going to mark this closed, since it's not a high priority thing right now, considering the effort involved. Thanks! :)

Spell check issues

Using Jamroom

Perrie, right before you announce anything on Creators, contact me privately as I can give you some pointers so that your posts will be seen in the most effective places on Creators...there is a little trick to it most folks don't know. You will also benefit from a couple of tips I can give you when you are planning to actually shut down your Ning site- be careful!- write me first and I can help you know what to be wary of when you go to do it.

"Things are so bad at Ning with slowness and server failures."- are you saying this is all going on right now with your live ning site? It wasn't quite that bad yet when I left ning in mid June, 3 months ago. Has it worsened since then?

Spell check issues

Using Jamroom

So happy to hear that Perrie! And I'm tickled to know that you are in there editing your template codes! hey, Who would have thought you and I would be even attempting such things when we were both in Ning? Whoa, look out... ;D

Hey i didn't 'invent' the copy/paste/spellcheck fix. But I did post a summary of 'how to do it'- for DUMMIES, like me...so as to make it easier for other dummies coming along later on- like you! lololol Glad I was able to facilitate it.

But isn't it UTTERLY FAB to have Spellcheck and Copy/Cut/Paste right-click all back again? Feels so normal and good. :)

Cool tidbit- this morning a longtime member of my site who is online-clueless posted that she was dreading moving to our new Jamroom site from our old ning site, and that when she got there it was daunting to get her bearings...but that now after three months on the new site she just LOVES it and feels very comfy and happy- and she said everything seems to work more smoothly and quickly too. That's all saying a LOT because she really is not savvy online at all and she gets freaked out by changes.

P.S. "queen bee"? did you know that i keep bees?
