'De-activate Member' has glitch.

Using Jamroom

Thank you for the good explanation Brian. :)

I notice it takes a few minutes to show changes on the main page as well when I simply delete an item from the Data Browser's 'Activity Feed'.

Would there be a way to shorten that time lag period by like 25 or 30% ?
Just asking!...lol

New user sign up notification

Oh that would be awesome to NOT get the second one...which is the one that then lists MY OWN IP address for the new user...so confusing. yes it would be GREAT to just get RID of that second email notification altogether. THANK YOU!

Members not getting notifications -more often lately?

Using Jamroom

Brian I have been looking intensely through the Mailgun logs- and it seems to me very very few not being delivered successfully. A few seem to be marked for 'trying again later', and I assume that then works later. Could be I don't know what to specifically look for. Look at the bounce and 'failure' rates in my screenshots for example.

I do know that right before i went live last month i ran Kickbox on all 5000 member emailaddresses...and got only a 2% failure rate or so...after which i deleted half of those particular members....bringing it to about 1.5%, which was just fine.

Ah! I should have known! The email_approve_message.tpl in the Profile Followers Module! Will try to remember this about 'all emails' in the future...thanks.

DONE. Yay! this will help a lot of my more confusally-type members. :)

How do i embed video in FAQ answers ?

Using Jamroom

Look in your quota config tab, in your CORE settings. It could be the new 'faq' profile is in the regular member quota thus doesn't have that ability enabled. Sounds like maybe your "forum" profile quota has more options enabled.

Cometchat, does anyone have it installed and working properly ?

Off Topic

OMG, this morning I saw that CC update, and I thought to myself...hmmm...I think I'll let other folks update first, that way if it's a disaster and wrecks the chat, i won't be affected.
So I have not clicked on it. It's the same thing i do with new OS updates for Mac and windows... =8-o I feel for you guys- hope this is fixed right away- likley will be tomight, U.S. time.

-what happens now for me I wonder?- assuming they come out with another update to fix this update, yet I never updated to begin with...?

"1. Is it possible for regular members to tell other members why they want to follow them (e.g. to exchange private messages), and to explain a request to be followed in return?"

I feel there is a BIG need for this particular thing to be made clearer to members without they themselves having to continually explain the follow/privatemessage sequence of steps to each other.
This could be very easily solved, by merely changing the notification language for following.
Currently a member receives a notification that says:

"@ strumelia - you have a new fotmd.com follower!
JohnDoe is now following you:
(url here)....
You can view or delete this follower by clicking the following URL
(or cut and paste it into your browser):
(another URL here)"

Instead it could say something more explanatory, like:
"@strumelia - you have a new fotmd.com follower!
JohnDoe is now following you:
(url here)....
You can view or delete this follower by clicking the following URL
(or cut and paste it into your browser):
(another URL here)
NOTE- Aside from just keeping up with posts and activities of 'followed' members, by default our site is set so that once two members are both 'following' each other, it allows the sending of private messages between them. If you choose to reciprocate 'following' this person by clicking the 'Follow' button on their profile page as well, private message exchange will be possible between you and them. A one-way 'follow' does not enable messaging. To use private messaging, hover over your member name in the top navigation links bar, and find the drop down menu link for "Private Messages".

This would go a long way towards avoiding repeated explanations. Many members do not read through the help forum Q&As and threads.

thanks Michael- this is becoming a real problem, and people's settings seem to be correct. Three of my moderators are reporting it amongst them to me along with active various members. They say they are not finding any emails in their spam folders. My mods said the 'unfollow/follow' trick seemed to work pretty well for at first but is not 'sticking' long at all now.

According to Mailgun, my system successfully sent out 12,000 emails during the first two weeks of June when i went live. Then for the whole 3 weeks of July so far- only 10,500.
(I sent out site invites once during each of those periods)
Something not right with that, since members are becoming more active, sending more PMs, posting more now...should be substantially higher for the second 3 week period. Errors are about 1.5% according to Mailgun.

'De-activate Member' has glitch.

Douglas, do you mean if "I" clear the cache after de-activating the member then it will immediately remove that member's items from the main page activity feed so the OTHER members will no longer see them in the activity feed once their browser page is refreshed or clicked away from and back to again?
I guess i need to know if when you say "That should remove the member/media from your lists."...will it remove the member/media from OTHER people's views right away as well, or just my own?
