Video content box module on profile pages must coordinate or change...

Using Jamroom

Ok, so first I must say I am VERY happy to have the Combined Video/Audio modules for our site's profile pages! THANK YOU THANK YOU for creating these new modules- it's a major step towards solving my longterm audio/video 'split locations issues' that are still preventing me from going live.

That said, there are a just a couple of other aspects now that now need to coordinate better with this 'combined' concept.
I will keep to ONE item here though on this thread.

Now we have these wonderful tabs on our profile pages, which show each member's audio clips (uploaded, and soundcloud) and videos (uploaded, vimeo, and youtube)...all beautifully presented on one list each for audio and video. YAY!!!

But now, the lovely Videos module content box on profile pages is still 'stuck in the past' and displays ONLY uploaded videos. This creates a confusing conflict. See screenshot- the member has many YT videos on the site, but their "Latest Videos" viewbox says "No Videos Submitted!". Not awesome, in fact would seem downright weird to my members and to new people. Folks will be scratching their heads and asking about it from here to eternity.

I realize I could simply DELETE that video box from profile pages, but with its colorful vid thumbnails and scroll bar and the way it 'matches' its audio counterpart, well i really REALLY would like to keep it- it makes people's profile pages look rich and fun!

I just need it to show instead of ONLY 'uploaded' videos:

Ideally- to show COMBINED videos just like the Videos tab will show on its own page.

OR- if that's not possible and I have to choose only ONE type of video, can I make it show the member's Youtube vids instead of their uploaded vids? --> This is especially important to me because my new site will maintain the past uploaded vids, but all NEW vids will be only added via YT or Vimeo...I have removed the uploading of vids to my server to conserve future usage. So naturally it doesn't make sense to SHOWCASE the old uploaded vids ...which will no longer be changing in the future since no new ones will be uploaded. It would become a dumb stagnant box of outdated content. The vast majority of the member videos on my site are Youtubes, by the way.

How can I get the profile page video box module to show either Combined types of video, or Youtube instead of uploaded?

--> I will have this SAME EXACT question for the video module box on my Main/Index site page, by the way- except it would need to show vids from all members and not just from the profile page owner.

Thanks, I really must resolve this.

Create Album in combined videos issue and filter suggestion

Using Jamroom

John I am not having the issue you are experiencing either. when i click on the * create album in combined video list, I get a proper window where I can select videos from my computer to upload and create an 'album' with.

Do you maybe have it set right now so that you are not permitted to upload videos to your site? Maybe check "Daily Limits" module quotas as well?

[buggish report] new combined audio missing thumbs

Design and Skin Customization

For what it's worth:

I do not seem to be getting double "//" urls or errors when clicking on albums or songs from the 'combined' list pages.
I get urls like:
mysite.com/robin-clark/uploaded_audio/albums/the-cadair-idris-sessions
mysite.com/robin-clark/uploaded_audio/375/bonapartes-retreat
mysite.com/jonah-giuliano/soundcloud/2/soda-for-breakfast

For vids i get urls like:
mysite.com/robin-clark/youtube/895/higher-ground-dada-tuning
mysite.com/john-henry/uploaded_video/55/pretty-saro

All my audio songs and combined vids seem to be playing fine when clicked on.

I have correct thumbnails on my videos.
Most of my audio clips have generic profile thumbs because most were uploaded on my Ning 2.0 without adding images by the members. But some thumbnails are showing fine for those that had them. The ones without thumbs are still playing fine when clicked on.

Definitely something going on, but it might be related to all the styling and customization you have done previously...? I sure don't know, but had to post for the comparision in case it helps pinpoint stuff.

Steve, are you able to tell me what 'rebase' means, and what exactly it does? Thanks!
(probably good to add "rebase" to the JR Glossary) :)

I'm not talking about deleting all older versions of modules...but more like: is it really necessary to keep all 10 past versions of jrprofileforum module, and all 15 versions of Ningja skin...? probably overkill.

I too have wondered about this question. Can we safely delete the older folders of module versions, especially after we have like 6 or more folder versions of the same skin or module?

I think I'll just worry about that a little later down the road when somebody complains... ;D

Ah, ok then!
That's just what I wanted, got it working now- in the item index templates, I changed it to:
order_by="_created numerical_desc"
Most recently added are at top, oldest at bottom.
Excellent! :)
