wonder search anomaly

Using Jamroom

I have a similar odd search thing-
I have members named Rod Westerfield, and Deborah Westerfield.
On my main profiles page (site.com/profile), if I search for "Rod" (no quotes), I don't find Rod Westerfield among the Rods. If I search for "Westerfield", I get only Deborah Westerfield. If I search even for "Rod Westerfield" (no quotes), I get no result. I can only get to Rod's profile from following a trail of his content leading to his page.

Events Listing the wrong way round again in Ningja

Using Jamroom

FWIW, my (Ningja skin) site is listing the events in the correct order- but note that the 'correct order' I believe should be when the event OCCURS, not when the event was added. My mian page events module and my events page is listing all events with the ones at the top of the list being the ones that will occur soonest, and ones at the bottom are events that won't occur for a while yet (calendar-wise). I have kept up with all the module and skin updates.

John- what happens when you don't show PAST events? Would the COMING events show in the correct order? Try posting a couple of test events for the future and see how they display in order with other future events. I'm wondering if the 'past' events are the issue here.

Problems with profiles on fresh import

Ning To Jamroom

I think he gave two different urls as examples, separated by " and "...hence the spaces in the middle.

How much will it REALLY cost?

Ning To Jamroom

Scott, my personal suggestion-
Go with Jamroom hosting! The support is unequalled, and it's FAST.
For your site, I'd say start with the 2GB server level ($59/month I think)- you can upgrade to slightly higher easily later if you need to.
Then with that hosting plan, you can get all the bundles and modules you want for free, plus VIP support. The basic JR platform comes with a few skins already. Everything is automatically built to be mobile-responsive.

So... you could get the "Ningja Bundle" (with ning-friendly skin and most ning-ish modules you'll need like Groups and Forums), get also the Site Builder bundle, and there will be many other modules you'll probably WANT...all free with your hosting plan.
OK so that's $49, $59 or $89 /month...depending on how big and active your site is... everything included. Except Chat.
I bought Cometchat for a one-time price (get the 'self-hosted' version), and it's working fine on my JR site now.
That's it in a nutshell. :)

I think I've made a mess of my set up.

Installation and Configuration

Are you sure you are putting in your jamroom SERVER password?... (not your jamroom forum password, not your jamroom site admin password, nor filezilla, or other passwords...) and did you get the correct IP adress from your JR server settings panel?

Installation and Configuration

Yes you have to UPLOAD a copy of your whole Ning Archive folder to your Jamroom server.
Ideally, you should rename your Ning acrhive folder exactly to: Ning_Archive as the name.
Then you will need to upload that whole folder into your JR server folder called public_html.
(this is done BEFORE you can do any "import" of your ning content into your actual JR site) You have to get the archive there on your server before you can unpack/import the ning stuff from it.

changing /profile page to smaller avatars

Using Jamroom

Ah, I get it now- that was so puzzling. Thanks!

So, if i changed it to col4, I'd get 3 avatars going across the row.

Ad System

Suggestions

Oh well. :(

I guess then just a simple moduleblock to contain a rotating image slideshow?
I suppose we'd need to be able to set the image dimensions and the location on the page (at footer, below banner, in a side column...)
