Hoping to migrate to Jamroom, and saying Hi.

Ning To Jamroom

When I began making my ning archives a couple years ago for safekeeping, I ran into the 10,000 limits. I filed a ning support ticket with my frustration and they lifted the 10,000 limit for me somehow on their end at that time. Not sure if they still can or will do that, or if it remained in effect for very long or not...but give it a shot.

you delete the entire folders right?- not just what's in them. (and leave the index.html file there)

Missing Home Page About Blog entry - just disappeared from db

Ning To Jamroom

Clay, i recall you saying you were changing the title of your "About" blog on your home page.
Check to be sure you kept it in the "About" blog category, even if you changed the Title of that blog.

Asking for input - New Header and Menu concept

Ning To Jamroom

Input (since you asked):
1) I wound up making profile member names NOT in BOLD- as it gives a less heavy aggressive look...see my screenshot for an example. Especially since you have a nice graceful site title font- the member name looks a bit heavy and clumsy in comparison.
2) Personally, i find black with white to be hard on the eyes. And I associate dead black backgrounds with goth/metal type sites. I'm thinking... wouldn't it make sense for your chocolate site to use a yummy dark brown instead of BLACK for the background blocks of color everywhere? And maybe varying shades of cream replacing any stark white backgrounds and font colors? Personally i'd envision your banner too in a very dark brown with a rich cream for your site title script...then those colors reversed for the tabs...and a milk chocolate and a nice clear sky blue for touches elsewhere on the site.

ok just my own taste. I cant wait for your site to go live, Clay- I feel like joining it and ordering some Hug Mugs somehow...!

Events - Adding Multiple Dates

Suggestions

brian:
Paul - I think we could support this fairly easily by adding the "end date" field(s) into the install.php as well, so Ning users could just "enable" the fields and have it work.

I agree however on the "delights of the Form Designer, ACP Editors and Templates" - to really get the most out of Jamroom you need to understand the form designer and templates. Invest a couple hours NOW learning about them and you will be able to do anything you want with your site.

I'm all for BOTH points! (and i've spent over 100 hours already reading/learning...and have done over 100 tweaks to my templates, and some initial form-design changes...I'm learning as fast as I can, believe me!) ;)

Me and Soaring may have to be a bit careful- just got politely criticized for crowing about JR a little TOO often on Creators... lol

Forum

Jamroom Developers

Ah, I think I am getting the concept Brian. (nice to see your face!)

I have to think and learn more about the two froum choices. I'm liking how the profile_forum appears and looks integrated. But I just dont want my members having their own profile page forums. And I dont want MY (or MY as the "forums" profile) personal profile info and radio buttons showing on every forum thread that was started by others and has nothing to do with me as you see here:
