the couple things i need from your end to be ready to move
Ning To Jamroom
I agree with SE.
It's SUPER important that the Groups default layout be logical and semi-familiar to ning veterans. The BASIC group layout should not have to be laboriously tweaked using code by every person who comes from ning.
Many of my longtime most active and important groups were actually created by members who are long gone from my network. It makes zero sense to have them showing on the group page anymore. Plus, because of group creators later leaving my network, as of the past 3 yrs I am the only person creating new groups (after considering suggestions from members) so again- I don't need the omnipresent ME showing on the group main page. l o l
Groups should (by default) NOT be showcasing who created the group or that person's profile info at all. Each Group main page needs to appear autonomous (stand alone). Right now the top of the group page has a big banner featuring simply the name of the member who created it. But it doesn't even explain they crteated it- it just looks like you are on that member's profile page. Can we get them OFF of there so they do not hover, GOD-like, over each group?
Here is my own view of what each Group main page should have.
Note that many of these things are ALREADY in place:
--Group title.
--Group avatar image (that the admin can change) (note: not the profile avatar of the person who created group) Our ning archives contain those GROUP avatar images.
--Text box for additional group info and media the admins may want to add
--group's discussion forum showing latest active at top
--group's Comment Wall listing latest at top. (Comment module BELOW discussion module)
--A list of group members to the side (a small module with grid of tiny avatars if possible, hovering will reveal member name)
--also a list of Group 'Pages' links, perhaps to the side as well (i'm assuming we already have a way of not allowing members to just create their own group pages willy-nilly, right?)
important --> The discussion and the comments modules should have either scrolling and/or pagination so they do not become miiiiles long.
Thanks so much!
