where to change a forum setting please?

Using Jamroom

My reason for the large number is to work better with the fact that I've reversed the order of my forum posts- from oldest first to oldest last. This is ideal for mobile devices where when you click to see a discussion, you don't want to have to scroll down and also then navigate to page 6 to see the latest posts and respond to it.

So now with the forum post order reversed the way I like it, a side effect is that the oldest/original post winds up showing only on the last page of a multipage topic...and many members won't think to navigate to there when they go to read the thread and see the latest post and reply to it. Having the original thread 'disappear' into old pages doesn't help members stay on topic.
So- if I make the number of posts per page to like 75 or so, the result would be that 95% of my forum threads would still show the original post at the bottom of a single page that contains the whole thread. Conversely, if i set the posts/per/page # to only 10, 80% of my forum discussions would NOT show the original post on the page of recent posts. That's why i think making my posts/per/page setting to around 75 will be the best compromise for getting the most 'pros' while keeping the 'cons' to a minimum.

Reports that users are accidentally getting logged in as different users?

Using Jamroom

Paul, the most I can recall is that it had something to do with either user ID#s or Profile ID#s getting used by a duplicate or wrong other person. It had to do with the fact that those members from ning (who got assigned imported user #s) had not yet logged into the site themselves. Maybe I had visited their pages and thus 'assumed' their identity while on their profile page? I do know that this logging in as the wrong person only happened to me and my moderators (profile admins)- for my site it never occurred between regular quota members- only occurred for admins. Maybe I'll get a brain flash and remember more. I don't have our email about this from back then- maybe you do?- it was June 2015 that much I do know.

Ok, for example in this Forum thread which has a total of 66 posts:
http://fotmd.com/forums/forum/off-topic-discussions/1504/lets-have-some-fun-and-laughs

Right now I have the jrForum setting to "no topic pagination" and you can see the original thread post at the very bottom of the thread page- the post by Rod Westerfield.
If I instead set the jrForum setting to 50 per page, you'll see that it cuts off the oldest 16 posts (limiting what shows on the page to 50 posts)- but it does not even give a 'page 2'...so you can NEVER navigate to or see the original post. That's not a good thing!
So I'm still restricted to choosing either 50 per page, or having ALL thread posts on one page (No Pagination)- which is terrible when i have a thread of 300 posts with images(!). Thus, even with your code tweak i can't get 60, 70, or 80 posts as 'posts per page' choices. (I wouldn't ever likely need more than 80- more than that gets too dang long by anyone's standards.)

Paul, I did this, but there's an issue:
After applying and doing integ check/cache etc... in my jrForum module there's still the setting where the choices only go up to 50, or else I have to choose "no topic pagination"(default).
So, if i choose 50 that seems to override your ' if 70 ' code fix, and if I choose no pagination it also takes priority and will show a page of say all 300 forum posts (also no good).

-i should mention that I also have a jrForum item_detail tmeplate in my skin, but it only consists of a short snip of code that hides profile sidebar for the 'Forum Profile'. ...so I didn't touch that template.

Reports that users are accidentally getting logged in as different users?

Using Jamroom

Hey Paul- do you remember when this was happening to me, right around the time when my FOTMD site was going live like around June 2015? I remember vaguely it had something to do with user/profile IDs, and something to do with the fact that my imported member profiles had not logged in yet and maybe had to do with I had not done the final member import yet...somehow ID #s were getting mixed up...can't quite remember why though... dang! Wish I could remember exactly what happened back then and why. But I do remember we got either Michael's or Brian's input on why it happened on several occasions, and you saying to me that once we went live the problem would correct itself.... and it did.
Sorry if this is rambling, but I do recall having the same issue long ago right before I went live from my ning migration. Then again, maybe that prob i had long ago was due to some other issue and has no bearing on this. Not much help, sorry!

where to change a forum setting please?

Using Jamroom

Cant' seem to find where I can change this:
In my jrForum module, there's a setting where I can choose how many posts show per page of a forum discussion. the drop down options have choices up to 50 posts per page, but I want to allow for more.
Where can I add choices/options for choosing 60 or 70 forum posts per page instead of the limit of 50?

Alexander- there's a table.css file and a tablet_core.css file. Dougles means the tablet_core.css (tablet with a t)

You would need to go (via an FTP program, I use the free Filezilla FTP program) into your server (are you on JR hosting or not?) and into your active Skin's "CSS" folder. In that folder you'll likely find your table_core.css file and you pull a COPY of it onto your desktop and make the change as in the end posts of the other thread. Then you'd SAVE that .css file and load/overwrite it back to your server in the same place. --Be sure to first save a COPY of the file prior to your change, in case you screw up! (always do this)

Alexander, you can get free easy to use (I'm a non-coder and I can do it!) CSS-editing programs where you can open a css file and make the changes and save and re-upload the .css file to your server. (always save a copy of the unchanged one in case the result is no good and you have to revert back to it).

Here's a free Windows .css editor I like to use, called Notepad++ :
http://download.cnet.com/Notepad/3000-2352_4-10327521.html

Here's another one I like (sorry, again for windows, I'm on windows):
http://www.pspad.com/en/

These two programs are actually easy to use in a very minimal 'edit the text and save' way. If the JR team suggests a small code change, you:
1) Use a simple FTP program (i use Filezilla) to access and find the file on your server as per their instructions
2) pull a copy of the file to your desktop (and make a safety copy of it unchanged, just in case)
3) open the file in a free .css/html editing program and make the text change suggested and save.
4) re-upload the file to your server, telling it to 'overwrite' when it asks (remember you have the unchanged original copy for safekeeping on your computer)
5) clear your cache and see if the change has worked as expected. If not, put the original file back where it was originally and ask for further help.

This all sounds a bit complex but once you've done it a couple times it's not hard. You can get a free FTP program in order to access your files on your server, and you can get free css editing programs to make the simple code changes.
If you're careful and methodical, you don't have to actually 'know how to code' in order to follow directions to make these code changes. I'm not a coder but I do this all the time. ;)
All this said, maybe the JR team will respond again here with further help for you. I just wanted to run through how I've come to do these things, just in case it was helpful to you for the future.

Isleander:
Yes the problem still exists. I cannot access anything at the top of any pages because even if pulled down and is momentarily visible, it jumps back behind the header, and therefore the tabs and whatever else is hidden cannot be accessed. The pages will not fully pull down to assess what is hidden.
One image shows the extent to which the page will pull down without being forced.
The other image shows the top being forcible pulled down before it jumps back behind the header.
Because of this, everything behind the header cannot be seen nor accessed.

Ah, now with the more detailed description of the problem, I realize this is the SAME issue I had a while back, only on iPads. Be sure to see the youtube video i embedded in the first post of this thread below, it shows what's happening.
we did finally fix the problem:
