Sending Private Messages To Multiple Users

Using Jamroom

Jeff, I made a Private Group where my moderators and I can discuss site issues privately. It works really well for me. I can create permanent group 'Pages' for my Mods there too, with templates on how to handle certain typical situations that come up regularly (like how to properly disable/hide a profile without deleting it... til I can take a look at the problem). In the Mod Group, I have a Comment Wall for general quickie chatter, and we can also create Discussions for specific subjects that need in depth input.
With a private Group for admins, you can keep certain helpful info and instructions there permanently for their use. It provides a good place for admins to figure out what to do in certain situations, and a place to vent privately.
You do want to test it first though, to make sure you've in fact made it 'private'...by logging in as a regular member who's not a member of that private group to make double sure the posts in it cannot be seen by regular members. ;)

BLOG - How We Monitor Your Jamroom Hosted Server

Announcements

That's amazing how you guys built the Nucleos server-monitoring module... !
I can vouch that my site's hosted JR server has been WAY more stable and speedy than my site ever was on Ning servers. So reliable I never even have to think about it. I like that!

I think you should announce the return of your 12G hosted level in a big way...it's an incredible deal:

Quote: I'm excited to announce that after reworking our backup solution we've been able to lower our backend costs, and that has allowed us to re-introduce the Jamroom Hosted 12G plan!
For only $39 a month you get access to the same great features found in all Jamroom Hosted Plans...
If you’re NOT using Jamroom Hosted and are currently hosting Jamroom 5+ elsewhere, we can import your existing Jamroom site for FREE and get you up and running on the fastest and most reliable Jamroom Hosting you can get - Jamroom Hosted.

Updating an earlier skin with the Ningja skin

Design and Skin Customization

Did you search in both the "Skins" TAB and in the "Installed" Tab there in your marketplace module?
also try just searching for Ninja ...without the jr in front.
If you're sure you haven't already installed Ninja, look through the 4 pages under Skins TAB of Marketplace.

The language file is not working on the profile page

Using Jamroom

nate:
And if you're going to say a skin isn't working properly, it makes sense to mention the skin name

Worth repeating.

Where do I find ? "create account"
That would be either a skin language or the user module language.
Yes, I changed "create account" to "Join" in my acitve skin's Language tab. That changed it in my top navbar links. (note, you have to be logged out to see it)

Like we said- go to your SKIN, to the Language tab of your skin...should be #4 or thereabouts

How do users delete profiles or accounts?

Using Jamroom

heheh you guys.

It's GREAT to have that option by the way.
On some sites where members come and go for quick info and are mostly 'fans' but who don't tend to post much content anyway, it's good to allow them to just leave and delete themselves.
On other sites however, you can have some very active long term members who have contributed lots of interesting or valuable content on your site. If they just suddenly left and deleted all their stuff, it'd leave a whole lot of crippled/orphaned/disappeared content behind. This can really damage a site.
One member i had who had a very important Group on my site that they had created loooong ago (when I used to allow members to create certain groups after I approved them)... suddenly wanted to up and leave. I knew nothing until they wrote me that they couldn't figure out how to delete their account. This gave me the chance to use the Change Owner module to transfer ownership of their group to me first, before I deleted his account for him. That saved the important Group from simply disappearing...thus preserving seven years of terrific discussions that others had started in that group.
Jamroom offers some really terrific functions, options, and modules. (also three cheers for the Change Owner module!!)

Refreshing page does not always update saved template code.

Design and Skin Customization

Not sure if this is related, but lately I've encountered a few issues when trying to save .css STYLE settings via ACP...never had that issue before. It seems to happen inconsistently.
Last night one example was when i was in my active skin's .css Style tab of cmobile_core.css
I wanted to change the color # of main_logo / background color there, and no matter how many times I put in the color #, then scrolled down to click "Save" button... by the time I scrolled back up to see- it had cahnged back to the prior color #. Could not save my change.
I finally just downloaded the css file itself from my server, made the change manually, saved, and uploaded it again to my server, and all was well. Wasn't a huge problem, but just thought I'd mention this as it's happened maybe 3 times in the past month or two for me, whereas i never saw it happen previously. Not sure if updating to jr6 had anything to do with the timing or not.
If this is not connected to the above- please ignore or delete my post!

glitch when posting links to site media urls in comments/posts

Using Jamroom

Michael, I just tested the new update fix in comment walls, in Group discussions, and in Forum discussions.
I tested using the 'link button' and also just pasting the urls directly into the editor, in my posts, without using any buttons.
I tested plain urls to webpages without media on them, tested complete Youtube urls, and also tested using the Youtube "share' link.
All seems to be working great. 'Cards' are being nicely created for audio and video urls when they're supposed to be, and links are plain hotlinks when they are supposed to be.

Thanks so much- great fix job! :D

glitch when posting links to site media urls in comments/posts

Using Jamroom

michael:
can you show me a page please?

1) using the 'link' button in the editor is working fine now- for example if I post an url for a YT video by using the Link button, it will give a simple hotlink to the YT page- but won't convert to a card in the post- that's GOOD.

2) (when NOT using the link button, but just pasting an url right into the editor in the middle of a post)- It's no longer getting converted now. For example I paste a youtube url into a post now (without using any editor 'buttons') and it's just a plain text non-clickable text of the URL. Does not create a live link AND does not convert a media url into a 'card'.
You can see it happening in a Group discussion here- various members are posting urls to YT videos, uploaded vids, and on-site Soundcloud files...and getting frustrated because they are not even live links. They are not using the link button, just pasting their urls into their posts as is:
http://fotmd.com/strumelia/group_discuss/2024/middle-school-student-needs-cw-era-music

(-note- I posted in that thread for members to use the 'link button' if they want hotlinks for now- and member Greg Gunner just did that in order to create hotlinks to the YT videos he was tyring to get people to look at in his earlier posts)

I should mention that this was not like this previously- a card would be created properly and play the media in the post. And urls to non-media pages would simply be hotlinks.
