Perfect! YES, the above is different from what you posted earlier, and it's good...perfectly clear as written above! (users who are not the forum owner or a.... that's good!)

Just my two cents, but I would change that to:

Thanks, that helps Brian! :)

The part that is now still confusing when read (to me anyway) is where you say:
"1) Profile Owners and Site Admins ONLY will be able to edit or delete a...."
-confusing only because I'd be assuming that ALL registered members of a site are 'profile owners'...they all own their own profile.
So If I had to suggest a change in wording to make it dummy-proof for folks like me, I would simply change that to maybe read something like:
"1) Profile Forum Owners and Site Admins ONLY will be able to edit or delete a..."

Can i change the icon for chat?

Ok got it!! :D Thanks, i totally understand now! (whew!)

...and this way, anytime I clone a new skin off my custom skin, the new folders and icon .pngs will be carried over to the new skin too. woo-hooo

Michael- when I hovered over the icon on my site using the Chrome Inspect tool, I saw references to the icons_black folder... so I knew that's the one for my skin. But I created both black and white folders in my skin's IMG folder, just to be safe. ;)

Ok so by "profile owners"...in this situation what is meant is the profile(s) that 'own' the forum being posted in. The "profile forum owner" as i understand.

That means that when I ask: "What about when the regular member CREATES a thread in the forum? will they continue to be able to edit or delete that whole thread by deleting their original/first post?" - if that 'regular member' does not own the site-wide profile forum or the forum where they posted a new discussion... then if the option box is checked, then after 24 hours that member will NOT be able to delete even their OWN discussion (by deleting the first post of their discussion)...in any forum they do not 'own'. Is that correct?

Michael, in my skin, I don't have any subfolders in its
/skins/YOUR SKIN/img/ folder. Just some various .jpg, .png, and .gif images all thrown in the /img/ folder of my skin...no subfolders are there.
Would I need to CREATE a /icons_black/ subfolder there, and put my custom chat-open.png file in the new sub-folder? OR- just throw the new .png in the general /img/ folder of my skin along with the other images there?

OOh, yeah, thanks Michael!
I thought about uploading a custom chat-open.png to my skin Images area...but does the skin then automatically know where to apply that .png to?- in the right places? Will the skin know what to do with it without you pointing codes to it someplace?

brian:
The option is there to prevent users that participate in a thread from coming back at a later point and deleting their responses, thereby making the thread irrelevant.

So checking the option applies the control only to non-admin members who respond to someone else's thread in a forum? What about when the regular member CREATES a thread in the forum? will they continue to be able to edit or delete that whole thread by deleting their original/first post?

Profile admins and profile owners should always be able to delete a topic or response since they have an interest in maintaining the forum.
Brian when you say "profile owners"- are you meaning the profile forum owner.. as in my case the profile I created called "forums" that 'owns' the site-wide Forum I use? OR, do you mean simply whatever member/profile created the individual forum discussion in question?

The profile owner and profile admins will always be able to edit a post.

I do get it about the Admins always being able to edit everything. But when you say 'the profile owner will always be able to ..." that seems to contradict the option description of "24 hours after a forum topic or follow up is posted, the user will no longer be able to edit or delete the topic."
This confuses me... can you please clarify for me- what exactly does the checkbox option do, then?
