Email Support

Applies to: Jamroom 7.0+ Last verified: 2026-10-24
  • What it does

Email Support (module jrMailer) sends all the email your site sends: signup confirmations, password resets, notifications and newsletters. For newsletters it also tracks opens, clicks, unsubscribes and bounces. It comes with Jamroom.

ACP > Modules > Communication > Email Support

  • Setting it up

    1. In Global Config, set the From Email Address to a real address for your site. Mail from webmaster@localhost (the default) is often treated as spam.
    2. Choose how mail is sent (see below).
    3. On the Test Email tab, send yourself a message to check that it arrives.
  • How email is sent

Active Email System chooses what sends the mail. Out of the box there is one: SMTP Server configured in Delivery Settings. Modules such as MailGun API add their own.

With the SMTP system, Delivery Method decides where the mail goes:

    • Internal Mail Server (the default) hands mail to the web server's own mail system. It needs no settings, but many hosts block or limit it, and mail sent straight from a web server often lands in spam.
    • External Mail Server sends through an SMTP server, such as your email provider's. Fill in the SMTP settings.
  • If your members don't get email, use an external SMTP server or a sending service like Mailgun. For Gmail, create an App Password in your Google account and use it as the SMTP password.

    • total sent
    • unique opens and the open percentage

    • bounces

Bounces are reported by the active email system, for example MailGun API. When a member's address bounces, their email notifications are turned off.
