I'm not getting any results at all when using the search on the profile timeline.

Tried searching for SteveX, @SteveX, @Ultrajam, words which appear in the action, "comment", etc, but never a single result.

I've got this fixed and have pushed the updated modules/skins to the marketplace. Update to the latest Activity Stream module and Elastic skin, and let me know if that works better.

Working now.

But it doesnt seem to allow searching for the user or profile. Maybe I'm misunderstanding what it is supposed to be used for.

If I search for SteveX or @SteveX or Ultrajam I get no results.

Yeah it's not a user search (since you are already looking at stevex's timeline)

You can click on "mentions" though to see where stevex is mentioned in actions, otherwise the timeline search searches the action text.
