been pricing seo and all i want is simple seo on site just to launch but every place is saying well we need a 15,000 dollar package 2-8 thousand down payment a years commitment
and all i want is the titles metatags and lil on page tweaking
so im doingit myself...again and hoping for the best
but looking in the meta.tpl i see
<head>{jrCore_lang skin=$_conf.jrCore_active_skin id="1" assign="default_title"}
<title>{$page_title|default:"`$default_title`"|capitalize} | {$_conf.jrCore_system_name}</title>
<meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=utf-8" />
<meta name="viewport" content="width=device-width, initial-scale=1.0" />
{if isset($meta)}
{foreach from=$meta key="mname" item="mvalue"}
<meta name="{$mname}" content="{$mvalue}" />
{/foreach}
{/if}
i assume the meta stuffs handled by the meta manager ..
but the title page title wheres that taken from where do i specify this like on the front page as an example and every "module" page as well as every page i added through the menu manager seems to just be home|domain

im in a mad rush to get this done in 48 hours so any quick replies

as much detail as u can give for diy seo
id appreciate it thnx

i think...im not sure but i think i got it figured out on like the ingex page and gallery page but not pages ive created using the menu add button

there needs to be a page title field attached to the menu item so it should have menu button url and page title

i hate to rush u guys with all u do and how quickly u dio it but if this is a simple task can u put it high on the todo cause im literaly hours from going live and im attacking this as fast as i can but finding no way at all to change the 'home' value on pages i created by adding menu buttons

The "On-site SEO" should be fine. What you need to deal with after that is the "OFF-site SEO". Thats what they will be charging for.

The cheapest way to get that done is to: Provide great content.

---
When people use the search engines, they are not searching for the site with the best SEO package, they are searching for "The answer to the question they have." If your site has the answer to the question they are asking, then they will find you. because the whole purpose of the search engines is not "To serve up the sites who have the best SEO package", its "to help people find stuff".

Their whole business model is based around helping people find stuff.

You just need to be the one with the best answer to the question they are asking.

The SEO industry of selling packages works because people want searchers to come to their stuff that is NOT the answer to the question they are asking.

eg: you have a site about "blue widgets" and you want anybody searching on "red widgets" to come to your "blue widgets" page because they might be interested. Its not on target so others sites that do have "red widgets" get higher search results. You pay an SEO company to go around putting up links to your "blue widgets" page with the link-text of "Red widgets" thinking that it might trick the search engines into sending people searching on "Red widgets" to your "Blue widgets" page. It used to work. Doesn't now.

Just make your site on topic and people will come.

i agree with you..mostly but page titles being unique, and relevent is crucial
as an example if they search simply dreadlocks.. a key term that used to bring in 85% of my trafic and my site doed when i no longer ranked for that and dreads
a dite called dreadlocks natural dreads the title of my old site will rank higher then 1 simply titled home
and even if a miracle that home .. manages to rank high despite the fact that there are 10 or more pages all titled home.. the title being the single most important element on the page that should tell the entire story of the page in a few words the clicks are not going to go to a page that simply says home but one that says dreadheadhq we guarantee dreadlocks in any type hair.. but that sites a scam that destroys hair and we must...and i mean must outrank them
so we need on site seo control thats at least basic like page titles
everything else headings etc can be adjusted in templates but titles are cruicially important
every page on your site needs a unique tiitle
thats the most basic seo
that title needs to describe the page content and be relative

search any search term at all and i bet u never find 1 page that says just home in the top 100 results

Could you offer up example url's of pages that don't show how you want them to show?

examples on jamroom.net:

jamroom.net // title is "Community Web Content Management System | Jamroom"
jamroom.net/download // title is "Jamroom 5 Download | Jamroom"
jamroom.net/support // title is "Jamroom Support | Jamroom"
jamroom.net/michael // title is "Michael | Jamroom"

Seams pretty ok to me.

www.greentechnologyforums.com although the seo scan saus the meta tag title the

thats built from in meta.tpl i cant add it there ir its the same everywhere i vcant add it to header or its the samne everywhere i tried include header title= but no good and can only do that in index.tpl
the custiom pages dont have a template associated witrh them to add the toitle to

if there was just a title ..page title form field along with button namew ansd url that would do the trick

the adding a template for each menu item is an excelent idea
the meta manager seems flexible enough that u can specify custom tags specify what sections or templates they are added to etc but it gives u no access to the title tag
also although the seo scanner i am testing doesnt pick this up most will say there should be only 1 h1 per page and all forum list and bloog list etc titles are h1 not h2 the h1 should bbe more relevent to the page title the forum titles ..on the forum details page yes should be h1 but not in the lists there they should be h2

all thats editable in templates ofcourse i just cannot figyure out how to change the tag the single most important tag

Would it be easier to just add a TEMPLATE Tab in the Meta tag tool so we could just edit the tags directly in the template? I notice the drop down menu is missing several meta tag names that are needed?

Are you using the Meta Tag Manager module? If so, what tags are missing?

Thanks!

its not what tags are missing since you can add your own tags
its where the tags can be applied thats missing and more importantly the title tag not a meta tag but the title tag
pages you create by creating a menu item have no specific template to add meta tags to have no specific way to add a title to

you click add menu item set it to ..rock
and create a page of just rock genre
you cant set the toitle to rock genre music.. or anything its stick saying home
you create a page and its a guide to organic gardening
and the titles ..home

your stuck with that title on pages u create and theres no specifdic template to add meta tags to
so if every menu item had a title field to set the title and a tem[late to add the meta items to...
then it would be complete
