How do I change a member's location for them, in their profile page Sidebar? I'm not seeing and am assuming they are not able to change this profile info for themselves.

If it matters, I have two kinds of situations-
1 where the members and their locations have been imported from Ning, and
2 when they are new members who joined after my ning import, and they had punched in their location in their membership application fields.
Attached is a screenshot showing what I need to change for them when they request a location change.

Your members' locations are a user field so they (and you, as admin) can do it by clicking on the update (gearwheel) button then the Account tab.

Ah, Paul- I see that on members who have joined since I moved to Jamroom. But my imported Ning members do not have that 'location' field at all in their Account tab- for instance my longtime member John Keane in my screenshot above.
I seem to recall we did some fussing before I went live so that the ning members' locations would show up in the sidebar. How can I now change their (or my own for that matter) location in the sidebar, for my imported Ning members since their profile has no 'location' field?

- I realize now that this is affecting only my iumported ning members, and I should have started this thread in the Ning-to-Jamroom section...oh well. Still need help. :)

If you go to the User Account Form Designer you'll see that the location, country and user_signup_questions are only allocated to the Member quota. John Keane is in the 'Patron Member' quota. You'll need to enable those fields for that quota as well.

There is a profile_location and a user_location field in both the modify profile and modify user account. The profile_location field is not active, so it won't show on any profile modify screen. The user account user_location field is set to show only to your member quota.

You can change this by going to your modify account page, click the form designer button and modify the user_location field, then select the (Group)Normal Users in the Display Groups selection, or hold down the ctrl key and select multiple quotas.

Hope this helps!

I 'sort of' understood this, then Douglas laid it out even more clearly, and that enabled me to find my way to the places I needed to fix it. Seems like I have it all working properly now.
Thanks so much!
