Where are my groups after Ning import?

Ning To Jamroom

restmin:
Basically I need to edit my page I created http://restministriessunroomcom.jamroomhosting.com/groups to other have all the groups listed... or if there is a page already made, link to it.

Doesn't your site already have its (site)/group page where you can see all the groups?
I notice the page you are making has an "s" after /group, whereas on my site one goes to the (site)/group page (without the s) and sees all the groups in one place. I'm just wondering if that little 's' will cause an issue for you. Or maybe it's a site builder thing that doesn't matter and I know nothing about.

I'm sorry Dave, but this is one of the things I planned to get working AFTER my site goes live, since it's less critical on my list. I'm a bit swamped with trying to get going on getting my site live now- my real world day job is interfering way too much! :(
I might wind up following YOUR lead, please keep us posted if you get it going.

Refining what is in Activity Feed

Design and Skin Customization

Resty, maybe it's a small comfort, but things have improved by HUGE leaps since I got here in terms of the JRTeam making things easier and more intuitive for us noncoders. Take heart in knowing that you are moving forward way faster than i did. I still hope to beat you in actually going live though! :)

How can i REMOVE THE content management software | Powered by Jamroom

Design and Skin Customization

I'm leaving mine in as a thank you... but I'm going to change the "Powered by" to "Built on" because otherwise it reminds me too much of Ning/Glam, where they technically owned my site and always had control over it and could pull their 'power' plug whenever they felt like it.

Assigning Group Pages to Groups

Ning To Jamroom

Yes my Ning is still completely active while I work, and I have done TWO trial ning archive imports during this time. I work on the site using the older archive of content that was imported a while back. The third and final import will be the new "go live" one. Yes I've been taking a long time. ;) I lost about a month I figure due to the HORRIBLY slow cheap Arvixe server i chose in the beginning. Anyway...
When i'm actually ready to go live, I will tell my members that for a few days anything they post will be lost, and will shut down the ning site to new users signing up. I'll get the final fresh archive to import and OVERWRITE the archived older content on my JR site that I was building/testing with. (all my test posts will disappear in this process).
Right now I'm only a few eeks from going live and I'm still running both sites but the ning one is the one members are still using. They cannot even log into my JR site just yet.

Pages- my few pages made by members had titles that were descriptive enough to search for in my ning site and thus find where they were located. Titles like "Older tunings for dulcimer" etc. Is there no way to look in your archive folder and open those pages to see some text from them, and then search them on your ning site to find where they are located?

How exactly does "Enable Full Text Search" work?

Using Jamroom

PJ, if you simply click on the ACP top link itself (rather than the drop down items) then you'll be on your core/admin/global page. There, you'll see the left side column with two tabs: Skins and Modules. You will find all your installed modules there- and Search module is under "Listing" when in the modules tab.
Another useful page to bookmark is your /marketplace/browse page, where you can find all the modules available to you, plus notice the tabs for "installed" and "system updates".

Personally, I found the module "Admin Hover Menu" to be incredibly handy, and I have it installed. It puts a strip of quick-access admin links accross the top of your window wherever you are on your site, and makes things like Marketplace, tools, and modules really fast to get to. Give it a try, you can always uninstall it if you don't like it. I love it!

After a trial import of a ning archive (not live yet), Paul reset my 'missing' groups so that they now are shown as having been created by me, instead of as having been created by members who have since left. Then they showed up fine. (i think that's what you are asking?)
We'll have to do that again when I do my final 'going live' Ning archive import.

Thanks, sounds like generally a good thing then.
Do the words AND and OR need to be capitalized?
Does it also recognize plus and minus, as in searching for "sheet music -guitar" or "teacher +fingerstyle" ?

I have another search question, but will post it in a new thread.
