investigating question mark replacing image (when profile hyperlinked)

When new members are approved on our site, I like to leave a welcome message on their comment wall.

I have my "Holly" profile set to auto-follow AND be auto-followed by new members.

Occasionally, based upon information submitted as answers to our sign-up questions, I want to leave a link to another LEWWWP member's profile page.

The most recent time I did this, I notice that the linked member's profile image appears as a question mark. (screenshot attached).

If you want to see these profiles for yourself, they are:
http://lewwwp.com/learningwithdiana
and http://lewwwp.com/diana-yarmolinska

I would rather have a simple hyperlink show or the correct profile image show.

Is there something in our settings that may be causing this 'question mark' to appear?
Is it possibly related to our Ning to JamRoom import? [the linked member was a very active member on our Ning site; her profile image would have been imported]

Can this be fixed?
Any assistance/suggestions would be appreciated,

Do those two profiles have a profile image and a user image uploaded?

I just checked.
Yes.
The hyperlinked http://lewwwp.com/diana-yarmolinska DOES have the same image uploaded in both places on her profile page.

Right. But why should that make a difference in the other Diana's link working?
Am I not understanding something basic here?
Or maybe not explaining myself/the issue well?

Sorry - I was just pointing out that this profile:

http://lewwwp.com/learningwithdiana

has no profile image. based on your screenshot I don't see how that profile is involved? Was there a different issue with that profile?

Based on your screenshot, I'm guessing you comment on this profile:

http://lewwwp.com/learningwithdiana

and included a URL to the OTHER diana profile, and then the URL scanner turned that into a "card". The OG tags for her profile are correct - can you post the URL to the page where you took your screenshot at?

Thanks!

Hi Brian,
Sorry for the late reply.

Holly took the screenshoot from this page:
http://lewwwp.com/learningwithdiana

There is her comment with the question mark when she tried to add a link to the other member's page.

Thanks,
Joanna

But I don't see that comment here:

http://lewwwp.com/learningwithdiana

Where is the comment that is showing in the screenshot Holly posted?

Thanks!

Confused, Brian (see attached screenshot).
But maybe it's because you're not scrolling down enough?
[The 'blank' look of new members' pages is something that I wish were different... not so welcoming. This new member has not posted anything yet, so her profile page is blank.]

I had to zoom in a few times so you can see that the ? mark IS there.

Sorry Holly - maybe I am not seeing something. When I go here:

http://lewwwp.com/learningwithdiana

I can't scroll and the page is mostly blank. See my screenshot.

If this helps any, I get the same result as Brian.

I created a ticket with login information.
Please use it and you will be able to see that question mark in a comment.

Thanks

I see your ticket and am checking this out. as an FYI this profile does not show anything to logged out users - that could be what you are after, but if not you'll want to check it out.

The root cause here is that the URL Scan tried to create a "card" for the Profile URL:

http://lewwwp.com/diana-yarmolinska

and at the time it created the card, the profile image could not be downloaded. So it has "cached" this URL and it's why you see the invalid image.

The Daily check for URLs _should_ fix this up, but since it has been a couple days and it has not, I will put some debug code in on your site to see if I can spot why it's unable to load the image.

Thanks!
