Index_top.tpl won't edit

I keep trying to edit the Index_top.tpl file in Elastic2, and the edited version won't save. I had changed the default "Example" quota name to "Employees." Did that do it somewhere? I can open and edit the file, but save doesn't work.

Changing the quota name shouldn't affect things, particularly as that template doesn't reference any quotas by default.
How are you editing the template? Are you using the ACP skin template editor? If so, use the Compare button to make sure there are no obvious coding errors, or maybe Reset to clear any edits and start again.
Also, is it just this template, or is it the same issue for them all?

Hey there Paul! I hope you are doing well.

I changed the index_core.tpl file with no problem. All I'm trying to change is the list items inside the quotes. No code changes other than that. Didn't think the quota name change did it, but couldn't think of anything else I might have done. I did use the compare, but it only shows me the same file twice with no changes.

I just figured it out. I had to change the language setting, as I was only changing the default value. Sorry to have troubled you!

However, the file would not allow me to change it, so I still think there is a problem with it. I was just trying to change the wrong thing.

That's weird - the results are saved to the database so it can't be a permissions issues. If I had to guess here, I would suspect there is actually a template error in your edit - and for some reason it is just not showing you the error. Try this:

- edit a template you have not edited yet - say the "404.tpl" - and make a change to a single character - i.e. change "not found" to "not found1". Save and see if they shows as modified. If it does, then it means for some reason there is an error in the template editing that is not showing.
