solved How can we uninstall a module that has been installed on a Jamroom site?

Unstalling, or to uninstall, is not described in the FAQ for installing modules.

It might be generally useful for people to know how to uninstall a module before they install it.

Can all modules be uninstalled in the same way?

Does a module have to be deactivated in all quotas before it can be uninstalled?

If so, after deactivating the module everywhere, how is uninstallation then achieved?

My particular issue just now is with Foxycart. I would like to uninstall this. How?

Go to your ACP and select the module, then click on its 'Info' tab. There is a 'Module Active' checkbox. Uncheck that and save.
The module is now effectively uninstalled. There is no need to remove it from any quotas etc.
When a module is inactive, a 'Delete MOdule' button now shows on the Info tab page. Click this to delete the module (and all its version iterations) from the server. This isn't necessary, but is there as an option to save disk space.

I am not seeing the Module active checkbox. But I am seeing "FoxyCart eCommerce is required by the following modules and cannot be disabled: Service Shop"

So that has to be my next stop! Thanks.

OK - now that I have Service Shop and Foxycart deactrivated, the shopping cart icon has disappeared (as hoped), while the "Cart" menu item remains on my site and is visible even when logged out.

This must - by elimination - be produced by the "Payment Support" module.

As a test, I have deactivated "Payment Support" and the "Cart" menu item has gone.

I actually want to set up the capacity for users to sell services from a personal profile, but I cannot find any JR documentation for the Payment Support module. (using Documentation search field and keywords "Payment Support")

(Sorry - should I open a new thread for this new topic?)

Yes - Forgot to mention that some modules are dependent on others so the Module Active checkbox will not show should that dependenct exist. But you've worked that out :-)

The Payment, Product and Subscription modules replace all previous eCommerce modules (FoxyCart, PayPal) and are relatively new. As such, we need to get some documentation in place for them. The Payment module docs. are pretty scant !!! - https://www.jamroom.net/the-jamroom-network/documentation/modules/4989/payment-support

For users to sell services I'd suggest using the Payment module with the Service Shop module - https://www.jamroom.net/the-jamroom-network/networkmarket/244/service-shop

Paul, has the service shop had the foxycart requirements changed yet? Don't see any mention in the changelog, so it won't work with new payment module.

Thanks very much. This is a well-stated short scenario for a possible use, alongside the relevant modules.

I wonder if JR can suggest how to best combine the installation and access to different modules - for a range of scenarios?

Such advice does already appear scattered through the documentation and support pages, but perhaps a page could be designed as a stand alone FAQ on

"How to combine (or mix and match) JR modules for different purposes",

Making it (still more) easier for new JR users to envisage the different ways of using JR would be good, I imagine.

e.g. for
(A) an stand alone JR site-owner, or
(B) a profile owner who is a site user alongside many others with similar purposes:

1. Selling sound files for download
2. Selling document files or download
3. Selling audiovisual files or download
4. Selling image files for download
5. Selling books and other things that have to be delivered separately
6. Selling intangible services that can be provided online inside the JR site
7. Selling intangible services that require contact through channels outside the JR site
8. Invoicing and billing (legal documents)

This alone is 16 different scenarios in total, but they might cover a great many possible situations.

Paul, version in marketplace states last updated Jan 2017, so don't think the new version has been added yet.

This might explain why I cannot activate the Service Shop without activating Foxycart.

My hope is that I can try to get a simple payment system running for members without paying Foxycart fees, and then add more expensive functionalities if usage of the initial system justifies the expense.

Reload the ServiceShop module from the MarketPlace just to be sure you have the latest version. The FoxyCart requirement is no longer there. The sale of ServiceShop item is just like the sale of audio, image, file items etc. and will hook into the active eCommerce module, in this case Payments.
