I just started new Jamroom site and while configuring it I noticed that Google Analytics is now only offering a Global Site Tag "gtag.js" code to enable the analytics.

There are only "Standard Analytics", "Display Network" and "Universal Analytics" currently in the General Setting form for selection in "Enabled Analytics".

Analytics seems to work ok by adding the Account Id in the form and selecting "Standard Analytics" in the APC.

There are probably millions of sites using the old codes so they won't disable them, but maybe add the gtag.js there also in the future?

Can you let me know where you are seeing this at? The official docs still show it working the way the module works:

https://developers.google.com/analytics/devguides/collection/analyticsjs/

Thanks!

In the Google Analytics > Admin > your site > Tracking Info > Tracking code

I am using the GA in different language so those might not be totally accurate, but basically there where you copy the script, if you add it to your site by copy paste.

I believe the gtag.js is still in beta, but I can look at adding support for it. It looks like the main difference is that gtag.js supports sending events to Analytics, Adwords AND Doubleclick (versus just Analytics).
