New Jamroom Hosting Features Questions

I have some questions on the new features.
1. On some of the packages it states the ability for 2 or more sites or unlimited. What does that mean? For instance the $39 package that says 3 sites. Does that mean i can create 3 jamroom hosted sites that share the total space and memory for that package?
2. One of the modules allows profile users to sell their own items. Will they be able to have their own page with a banner uniquely for their product page? Will they be paid directly or does it go through site owner to distribute?
3. You used to have a feature to allow chat room integrations on the jamroom sites. Can i use chat services like AV Chat or Video Whisper on the Jamroom Hosted plans? Like a room embedded on the site on a page? or does those need to stand alone on another server?
Thanks in advance for any answers !

1.) The help text for that reads "Free Marketplace Items: Jamroom Hosted Subscribers can install as many modules and skins (created by the Jamroom Network) on their sites as they would like." So if you have the 4G hosted package which has 1 "Free Modules & Skins" then you can create one domain. eg: great-skateboarding-videos.com and use any of the modules and skins created by the Jamroom Network for free on that domain. You can look through those module here: https://www.jamroom.net/the-jamroom-network/networkmarket all the ones with a price on will be free for one domain.

If you then want to add another domain eg: best-ballet-dancer-videos.com you would either need to upgrade to the 8G plan to get all the modules and skins free for that one, or purchase the ones that you need if you stayed on the 4G plan because it only comes with Free Modules and Skins for one domain.

If you go with the 24G plan you can add as many domains and create as many communities on each of those domains as you like, its unlimited.

2.) It depends on which module you use. The most robust module is the Foxycart module which allows you to sell subscriptions, sell videos and items etc, and for the system admin to keep any percentage that they like. foxycart is a shopping cart service and to use it you need to sign up for their system too which cost around $15/month, so only use it if you are setting up a sales as a main feature. If you want a tack on system just in case someone may want to buy something, there is the paypal module. you cant sell subscriptions with it, and you cant take a percentage. the money goes directly to the seller of the item.

3.) We have never provided a chat system package for Jamroom, perhaps you are thinking of cometchat which is a separate company that has a chat module that can work with jamroom. Its not provided by us.

If AV chat or Video whisper work on our hosting you can use them, but we dont install extra software to make other packages work. A common one that is required is ion-cube loaders. if they require that, it will not work on our servers.

Just to add to Michael's response, we do have our own chat module under development and that will be released fairly soon.

Thanks Guys for the feedback!

In regards to the answer to Question 1 above... if i did create one or two more communities, would i be able to link them to where when members signed in to one it would log them into all of them? Or have one log in for all communities for the members? Say one community i may have products and the other services, would i be able to have one central log in for members?

Can i purchase domains through Jamroom? If so let me know where to do it in my dashboard.

Thanks!

Yes you can use the ONEALL module:

Docs: "Oneall Social"
https://www.jamroom.net/the-jamroom-network/documentation/modules/284/oneall-social

To allow users to use a single sign on account to sign in to all systems. Each would need to be logged into individually though.

Unless you built a module to connect all the sign on systems.

I purchase my domains through namecheap ( https://www.namecheap.com ).

Another popular one is enom ( http://www.enom.com/ )

You can use whoever you like. We don't have a dashboard button to do it.

Thanks for the response. Just wanted to know if you had the option to get a domain through you. We have purchased and hosted Jamroom 4 from you in the past. We want to give your new services a try. Like all the features you are giving. Excellent!

Will there be an announcement when this is ready for use?

Yes, there will be an announcement most likely here in the forums when the chat module is released for beta.

Thanks!

Please, please, please (I'm sending wishes and 'pleas', pun intended)

that this JamRoom chat is in place soon... love to have it prior to making the 'go live' switch to JamRoom.

[And it sounds like I'm not alone in this please plea!]

Just asking so that others will be clear on it- if I have a hosted JR server that allows more than 1 domain and site...and I have 1 domain and JR site on it already but have room for another... 2 questions:

1) any other sites i put on my JR server HAVE to be Jamroom platform based sites, not just any other kind of site I want to build, or parked storage stuff I want to put there on the server if I have room...right? All sites on the JR servers must be JR platform sites, correct?

2) Again if I have the space and am allowed another site on my JR server .... what if I want to play around with building a new JR site based on a skin and modules I am allowed for free but without actual members (aside from me and some test members I create) and not live... does it need to actually be on a domain (yeah i know dumb question)- so do I need to register another domain just for building a new JR site that may never go live, that I just want to do design testing/building on? (I'm assuming you can't have two totally separate JR sites on one domain, correct?)
thanks for any info on this :)

1) We only provide support for jamroom sites, and would prefer it if it was only jamroom because adding other scripts introduces server security vulnerabilities for hackers to control your server. We don't want to deal with that. The server is a normal server though, so you could add other sites that are not jamroom. NOT wordpress please, that platform is always getting hacked. If you wanted to add static html pages they would work.

2) you can just use the subdomain feature if you just want to play around. add the domain 'google.com' and you will get both 'google.com' and googlecom.jamroomhosting.com. Thats fine, good way to play around with testing jamroom, then delete the site when you dont want it anymore, or want to start fresh.

- yes you can have multiple separate jamroom sites on one domain site.com/jamroom1 site.com/jamroom2 but I wouldn't try to nest them, site.com/jamroom1 site.com/jamroom1/jamroom2 . On jamroom hosting, better to go with the idea in 2) and make separate sub domains.

Its on jamroom hosting, so make as many as you like.

Ok, thanks Michael!
So quick question then as to option #2 above:
I have both fotmd.com and http://fotmdcom.jamroomhosting.com/
My main live site is on the plain domain the first one. But when I go to the secondary domain (.jamroomhosting.com) I see my complete main live site there as well. So... is that mirrored site merely a duplicate that I would remove from my fotmdcom.jamroomhosting.com/ domain and then I would build a test JR site their instead? Or would deleting the one then delete my main live site on both domains? (which I obviously DON'T, want to do)
I notice I curently have the secondary domain not active- would I see something different when going there if I make it 'active' like my primary domain?- or can I only have one of them Active at any given time?
thanks!

They are the same site, do not delete either of them. Delete one and the other goes too. 2 domains for the same site.

Instead go here:
https://www.jamroom.net/strumelia/hosting/server_settings/11

In the box that reads "Domain Name" type some domain name you don't have or ever intended to by, maybe: "strumelia.com"

Hit CREATE and a new domain will be added to your server:
primary domain: strumelia.com
secondary domain: strumeliacom.jamroomhosting.com

Then just use strumeliacom.jamroomhosting.com to play around with.

Yes, there is only one version of it active at a time. This example illustrates whats happening well.

Go here: http://fotmdcom.jamroomhosting.com/
Click on the logo image in the header.
Get redirected to http://fotmd.com because that is the "Active Domain"

Thank you Michael! Very clear, I understand. :)

Will open a new thread if I proceed and have more questions about the setup.

Happy dance!
