I have a bunch of videos uploaded to youtube in 1920 X 1080 resolution but when I add them to my Jamroom site the thumbnails all have black bars at top and bottom

Tonight I stumbled on a way to remove them - but have only tested on my 1920x1080's

Download the free "Template Injection" module from the marketplace then add this to the "Template Injection" text box and save
hqdefault.jpg|mqdefault.jpg

Really all this seems to be doing is changing the "h" in hqdefault.jpg to an "m" in mqdefault.jpg

If you look at a YT video in the datastore if its like mine you will see:

youtube_aretwork_url: https://i.ytimg.com/vi/AdttvLChEkw/hqdefault.jpg

but what you WANT it to say is

youtube_aretwork_url: https://i.ytimg.com/vi/AdttvLChEkw/mqdefault.jpg

If you click either of those image links you should see the difference

Anyways- if you have the black bars in thumbnails and its REALLY messing up your combined video templates like it was mine-just download the template Injection module and add the
hqdefault.jpg|mqdefault.jpg
and they should be gone
Hope this helps someone_ Thanks Michael for helping me with this!

Perhaps I'm missing something, but I tried that on my site and it didn't work.

Any thoughts?

right click and see what URL the image is using, on your site its set to:
http://img.youtube.com/vi/AklEEuRKpnc/0.jpg

so the replace that tries to replace any hqdefault.jpg with mqdefault.jpg wont be found in that url, so wont be replaced.

So for you the code would be:
0.jpg|mqdefault.jpg

There are many ways to do the same thing. The better solution for you is the one I posted in the other thread:

Thank you. That worked. I guess I use the same deductive reasoning to fix the Vimeo thumbnails that now seem to be broken.

Yep, that introduced a new bug, go with the other option:
