JR sites going down...

Hi, I have 2 JR sites, and one that keeps going down every 4 hs. or so. I am on a new dedicated server with 80 CPUs and 192 GB of RAM.

All other sites are just fine but still struggling with one JR site.

I did manage to do an integrity check just fine but the site goes down from time to time.

After it finishes trying to load sometimes I get to the site, but sometimes I get this> "Gateway Timeout
The gateway did not receive a timely response from the upstream server or application.

Additionally, a 504 Gateway Timeout error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request."

Is there a way to troubleshoot this?

Currently using 6.1.7 and all modules updated.

Hello,

A 504 error is a server error.

Quote:
"HTTP Error 504 - Gateway Timeout" Cause: One server did not receive a timely response from another server that it was accessing while attempting to load the web page or fill another request by the browser. This usually means that the other server is down or not working properly.

You'll need to contact your hosting provider so they can help you with this issue.

Hope this helps!

Are there any scripts on this JR site, or any other customisation that may be causing this?

thanks, Paul, only mods are adding ads and theme modifications.

If you have ads on the site they are likely JavaScript and are accessing other servers to get the ads. Could it be one of those scripts causing this issue?

If you're able to reproduce the error, outline the steps here. That may provide a clue as to what the issue is.

ads are working fine on other JR sites.
Also no idea how to reproduce the error.

There's something wrong with your JR or how the server is configured. with 80 CPUs and 192G RAM you could run thousands of Jamroom sites no problem - seriously. Our $39 servers are 1 CPU and 1G RAM and can support hundreds of users online at the same time.

Are you running a control panel on the server? Are there errors in your data/logs/error_log?

Thanks, Brian. It seems the problem is just with this JR installation. I am running another one that is fine. My server is running WHM, I searched for error, or logs but found nothing. I also check this JR install for the activity log and so far nothing comes up. The only thing marked in yellow is "Queues are PAUSED - queue workers are not running"

This means your queue workers are not running. Are there a lot of things in the queue? You can start those.

When you say the site "keeps going down" what does that mean? Do you get the 504 error?

What Apache are you running and how are you running PHP? PHP-FPM? Fast CGI? CGI with suexec? mod_php?

Thanks, Brian, they told me this

Hello,
It's a cPanel server with Easy Apache 4 so the PHP version can be set per domain which you can see in WHM > Multi PHP Manager.

The handler is PHP-FPM and Apache/2.4.33 (cPanel).

The Apache error log can be seen here /usr/local/apache/logs/error_log

Also, these are the queues:

What is the monthly cost on that server? That has to be over $3k a month!

Not at all, please don't get off topic.

Does anyone has any idea on how to resolve this problem ?

Actually it is on topic. You are on a shared server which is relevant to the topic unless you are truly the only website on a server that is outrageously large for a single site. A dedicated server is unique to one website. Shared services can be limiting in areas,

Out of curiosity, does your system check all green where it should be?

not on a shared server :)

if you are asking for system settings here it is, attached.

the other JR site (working fine) has the same settings, but somehow is not showing "Memory Cache"

I would get all of these issues resolved and see how you do. This is probably what is causing your problems.

Do you keep a lot of sites on that server, both JR and non-JR sites?

Our recommended way to setup a server is in this guide:
https://www.jamroom.net/brian/documentation/guides

it is of course not the only way to setup a server. Your server is setup differently and something in there is causing issues. We can offer suggestions but cant really debug your server for you. :( . Probably your server company doesn't want to do that for you either so it kind of is left up to you like it or not unfortunately.

Have you tried uninstalling the site with issues and re-installing it?

Another issue might be that you are running out of RAM or Disk Space or possibly both?

You might also try using the repair.php to see if that will fix it.

The key to figuring out the issue is understanding what the different is between those 2 sites.
