investigating MediaUrlScanner vs. Tinymce Link adder battle?

I'm noticing an issue now with embedded links to media...this started after the latest update feature to (I believe) MediaUrlScanner module that enabled this great new feature:
--------------
Checked: The player will display instead of the link.
Unchecked: A link with the title will display, when clicked the player will reveal.
Default: off
-------------

I love the result! It works great by simply pasting an url directly into a forum post or wherever. Love it.
However now there is a little problem whenever someone uses the "add Link" button in the Tinymce editor.
Normally, I've been adding the same pasted url in both places as shown in this screenshot:

....But now wityh the latest urlscanner update, when one does that it now produces TWO live links, and clicking on the first one takes you back to the begionning of a discussion...to nowhere. Clicking the second link properly opens the media and plays it.
See this screenshot:

I obviously want to keep the tinymce link adder there, for adding links that are NOT media-related, and editing their shown text.
And one cannot add a link via tinymce without filling out BOTH of those fields I show in my screenshot...filling out only the top url field results in no link at all.

What to do?

The top field it the links URL the second field is the text you want to make a link.

Are you saying that you can't put text in the second field?

I'm saying I paste the link into the top field, and then if I paste the same link into the second field (for what text to show), then it creates a second live link, with a play button, that does not function.
Yes we 'can' type text into that field, but many folks simply paste the url in again, to just show the url's text. They are using it to post live links for non-media pages as well, of course.
It's not just for my benefit, but I see some of my members are now doing this inadvertently as well. Many of us simply want the link to show where the 'text to show' shows...like say fotmd.com for example, and we don;t create new text to show what text to show- we just paste the same url in since it's already on our clipboard. And you 'have to' paste something into that field- cannot leave it blank.
So now, with the latest url scanner active, if one uses the tinymce 'insert link' button, if someone pastes a youtube url into BOTH fields, you get the double links and double play buttons, the first of which does not work.

Yeah I can see this happening since you're in effect putting the URL in twice - once as the href value in the anchor tag, and then secondly as the "text" for the anchor.

This might be tricky to fix, but we can check it out.

I appreciate it, since I've done it myself a couple times now, and also I've seen members do it twice now already as well. I'll need to somehow prevent this from continuing to happen, especially since people naturally tend to click on the first link first, which unceremoniously sends them to Nowheresville.
