solved Odd behavior when using # sign in comments and posts...

My moderator just discovered when he posted the number of some random podcast in a forum post using the # sign directly before, it becomes a hotlink to MY profile Activity feed page.
I looked at the comment code and it's merely:
<p>test post #194</p>
but the resulting hotlink takes you to: http://fotmd.com/strumelia/timeline/search/ss=%23194
(note the 194 at end of both items)

I tested this myself in both a comment on my profile page, and in a group discussion post, also in a forum discussion post....all same results.
Always linking either to MY profile activity feed page, or if the post was made in my Forums, then it links to the page activity feed of my "Forums" profile which owns my site forums.

The links show in the browser when hoverin gover them, but if I go to CODE view in the text editor, no link codes appear.

Super weird!

Hmm...what happens if I type #194 here...? Edit: nothing.

Let me see if this happens to me when logged in as a regular user on my site....BRB.

Ok, interesting:
when logged in as a regular member (named "The Member", lol)
I went to a Forum thread and posted merely : #194, #122, #2339
and all three became hotlinks to:
http://fotmd.com/the-member/timeline/search/ss=%23194
http://fotmd.com/the-member/timeline/search/ss=%23122
and http://fotmd.com/the-member/timeline/search/ss=%232339

So this innocent use of the character # makes hotlinks to the profile activity feed page of whoever 'owns' the content where the post is being made...or something like that.

Is this supposed to do this?

When Jamroom sees the pound sign (that is not being used as a URL fragment) it treats it as a "hash tag" - this is like what you see on Twitter (check out the "trending" section).

If you would prefer to NOT use this, you can disable hash tag substitution in the Core -> Quota Config -> Active Text Formatters by unchecking the "Convert # tags" option.

Let me know if that helps.

Awesome! I had a feeling it might be just something I'm not familiar with...I don't do twitter or FB etc.

I'll go disable it now- THANKS! :D
