When as admin I am in a Group, I get the trashcan icon to delete any group discussion.
When in a Forum category and I click on a discussion, I'm not getting a trash can or an "edit" gear icon...I only get the 'follow' icon. I can quickly delete individual posts in a Forum discussion one by one, but not the whole discussion OR the original post...from the discussion location.
I could have sworn we had that ability before... did it get wiped out somehow or was never there?
Need to quickly be able to delete a whole discussion in the Forum section of my site.

Thank you!

When I'm logged in on the admin account and visit a forum discussion, in the upper-right corner of that discussion I see a gear icon (update) and a trash-can icon (delete). However, in order for those to appear, I have to hover the mouse in the discussion area itself.

When I'm a group forum discussion, I see four icons: RSS, Update, Delete and Configure. However, in the group forum discussion, they are present without my having to hover, and appear on the title-line above the main body of the discussion.

That's what I get as well- but that trash can is only for deleting each post individually from a forum discussion. I still can't merely delete the whole thread by deleting the original post. There is no handy icon to trash the original post and thus the whole discussion.
In Groups, this is not a problem- we get the trashcan to delete the thread/original post. In Forums, it's not there.

The first post in a forum thread is the "topic leader" - delete it and it deletes the entire topic - i.e if I were to delete your FIRST post on this thread here, it would delete the entire topic.

That's the issue- I see no quick icon where I CAN delete the first post in a forum thread. Where is the trashcan for the FIRST post...I only see them for subsequent posts in a thread.
(and this does not happen in Group discussions, only in Forum discussions)

When I hover over the first post in this thread I see the trash can. Are you not seeing that on your forum?

D'OHHHHH!!! I'm so lame! L O L

I was hovering over the title bar of the discussion, where the 'follow/notification' icon is already.
Yes when i hover over the first post instead, it shows the trashcan and the whole thread gets deleted.

Hovering for the trashcan in the thread title bar where the Follow icon was...! =8-\

Thanks, this is 'solved'.... ;D
