Hello, I am not the programmer of my site, so I don't know how to find the answer...Basically, my older version Jamroom (how do I find what the version is?) was taken down by hosting Godaddy.com, but was then restored..however, they said they can't find the connection string (code to talk to the database). Here is how Godaddy put it, if anyone knows where the connection string might be, in what folder, etc??

'Contact Jamroom.net and find out if the location of the connection strings from can be anything other than config/settings.cfg.php depending on your version of Jamroom. If it is then find out where the connection strings are located for your current version.

The file that they give you other than "config/settings.cfg.php" will need to have the information updated with the new database information.'

The message I'm getting on the website is:

Your Jamroom Path appears to be Invalid!

If you are Upgrading from Jamroom version 2.6.x or older, you need to ensure the following entries are set with their correct values in the Jamroom settings file:
config/settings.cfg.php
Note that you can no longer use a value of "detect", as it will not work with Jamroom 4.2.6:
$config['jamroom_path'] = '/home/content/94/13057294/html';
$config['jamroom_url'] = 'http://highfrequencymusic.com';
$config['directory_mode'] = 0755;
$config['file_mode'] = 0644;
The values above are what Jamroom has attempted to determine are the correct values for your server - if they do not work correctly, you will need to ensure the values in the config/settings.cfg.php file are correct - you may need to contact your hosting provider or system administrator for assistance.

WHAT DO YOU RECOMMEND??

What its telling you to do is to open your-site.com via FTP and look at the contents of the /config/settings.cfg.php file in a text editor.

The message is telling you to check that the values in that file are correct.

Its made an attempt to try to determine what the correct values are, so try those first. The scripts guess at the correct values for your server are printed in the message:
Quote:
$config['jamroom_path'] = '/home/content/94/13057294/html';
$config['jamroom_url'] = 'http://highfrequencymusic.com';
$config['directory_mode'] = 0755;
$config['file_mode'] = 0644;

So see if what the script guesses are the correct values are correct by comparing them to what is in config/settings.cfg.php.

--edit--
ps. the answer to "what version am i using" is in the message too, its Jamroom 4.2.6

Hi, I've relayed your information to Godaddy, and they've attempted to update things, but then we got another error:

ERROR: dbConnect() unable to connect to database server "highfreqmusic.db.6632737.hostedresource.com"
MySQL error 2005 - Unknown MySQL server host 'highfreqmusic.db.6632737.hostedresource.com' (0)

They are asking another question:
Is there one or multiple configuration files that need to be updated with the new database information?

Notes: not set to the right database, cannot find database… hosted resource name. 2 lines of code to be updated. not a server, not a file.

don’t know where to put update the database configuration file…with new database credentials. locate specific files user name password…

still locating the old database server,
database configuration file

PLEASE LET ME KNOW WHAT TO RESPOND BACK....I will relay your answer to them and hopefully get the site up again.

THANKS! Carolyn

Can you PLEASE give a straight answer as to WHERE THE CONFIGURATION DATABASE FILES ARE? Just a specific one answer. No one can locate it. We've looked in every folder, every attempt. Can't use documentation. Things get stuck: http://highfrequencymusic.com/settings.php

PLEASE ANSWER

'What I was looking for was the exact file that needs to be updated. We don’t need to update your database login information, we just need to update the server that it points to within the configuration file. If they can provide you with the directory wherein your database configuration file resides, then we should be able to resolve the issue.

We need to know the name of the actual file that has your database name, username and password for connecting to your database. We also have to have the name of the folder and the path to the file.'

PLEASE GIVE ANSWER WHERE THE DATABASE FILE IS...

THANKS, Carolyn

Hello Carolyn,

The file the database information is stored can not be modified as I believe it is encrypted.

You'll need to follow the instructions from the link Michael posted above to change the database info.

"Changing the MySQL or Master Admin Password"
http://archive.jamroom.net/Jamroom4_Change_MySQL_Password

Hope this helps,
Douglas

Worst case scenario with Godaddy if they can't go into this level, how can I 'hire' Jamroom's individual support? I believe Douglas (if that is the douglas here) worked on my site some time ago... What is the procedure now to get technical assistance? I'd like to find out if my site is able to upgrade as well, since there was a a lot of custom work done to it, etc.

Thanks, Carolyn

...They couldn't do it. Everybody's stuck. As mentioned above, what is the next level I can get Jamroom's individual technical assistance?

We no longer support Jamroom 4, but if you need our help we can do our best. Contact us at support [at] jamroom [dot] net and we can work something out.

Hope this helps!
