A skin decides how your whole site looks: the header and menu, the home page, the layout of profiles and lists, colors and fonts. Your modules provide the features. The active skin decides how they're shown.
Jamroom comes with the Elastic 2 skin. More skins are in the Marketplace. See the Skin Reference.
A skin is a folder in skins/ on your server, such as skins/jrElastic2:
| Part | What it is |
|---|---|
.tpl files |
Templates: HTML with Smarty tags such as {jrCore_list}. header.tpl and footer.tpl wrap every page; index.tpl is the home page. |
css/ |
The skin's style sheets |
img/ |
The skin's images |
config.php |
The skin's settings, shown on its Global Config tab |
lang/ |
The skin's text, in each language |
From the least to the most work:
| What you want | Where | Page |
|---|---|---|
| Use a different skin | ACP > Skins > (skin) > Info | Changing the Site Skin |
| Change the skin's options, colors and fonts | Global Config and Style tabs | Skin Settings and Style |
| Replace a logo or other image | Images tab | Changing Skin and Module Images |
| Change the text | Language tab | |
| Lay out pages without code | Site Builder | What is Site Builder? |
| Change the HTML | Templates tab, or the files | Using the Template Editor |
Before you change templates, clone the skin: updates to a Marketplace skin replace its files. See Cloning a Skin.
